If you don't know who Ahmad Shah Massoud is, In this occasion, I present him, because he is the character that i love and respect so much, he was born in Panjshir in (1953- 2001), Tajik (persian) political and military leader. He dedicated his life to the dream of bringing democracy and independence to Greater Khorasan/ Afghanistan. He fought against Soviet occupation and the nickname of "Lion of Panjshir“ among his followers as he successfully resisted the Soviets from taking Panjshir Valley 9 times. He fought against Osama Bin Laden. He fought against the oppression of the Taliban Afghans(pashtons) and talibans Pakistanis, in fact he was the only remaining opposition commander against the totalitarian Taliban afghan regime. He fought for the equality of women. He was a warrior for peace. You can find more than 100 books, 100 songs in Farsi, and more than 10 songs in Italian, French, English about him. He said "Death is better than life in humiliation".
@arminius65064 жыл бұрын
Man you are just the most hypocrite breed in the whole region... Why don't you mention that it was ISI which trained, financed and equipped Masood to fight Kabul regime when they were trying to wipe out Tajiks and Tajik culture from Afghanistan. He made the wrong move by betting on Indian money and he payed the price.

He was an excellent example of a moderate Muslim Man. He lived with faith and inner strength. A true gentleman who sought for a free and peaceful Afghanistan. Thankfully there are still men and women who are willing to risk their lives for the peace and safety of others above themselves.

The truth is that every country has sold its soul to the Taliban and they can't help these great people. One day there will be a reckoning for those who have sided with these oppressive Taliban killers and they will face their justice but for now, all we can do is raise awareness for the great warriors of Panjshir that they will not die in vain. The world watches and feels their pain, and we will take action, one way or another, even if our useless, spineless and incompetent politicians choose not to act, we will do something.

Definitely not going to stain Shah Massouds legacy nor convince anyone who has any sense of history. Even the Russians he defeated learned to respect him, for his genius strategies but more importantly for how he treated Russian POWs. Russian command refused to bomb out his valley after losing 9 major assaults. Some actually came back to help him against the Taliban and Russian brass honoured him at his funeral. Very hard to earn the respect of your enemies ! and that itself tells a long story !

I say regrettably, because, while many Afghans venerate him, many others see Massoud as a false idol - as just one in a rogue’s gallery of militia commanders, living and dead, with their own personal fan clubs. His legacy is a matter of bitter divisiveness. His most ardent admirers are confined largely to Tajik strongholds in the north and west and in the capital. Recently, I visited Herat, Afghanistan’s second-largest city, and saw only a few Massoud photos around. That the Taliban had just staged a firing-squad execution of accused kidnappers outside the city was not, I was assured, the reason for this. In many Pashtun-dominated areas in the south and east, and not just those where the Taliban is gaining control, Massoud is more of a national anti-hero. As one friend put it to me, "You can’t say in the north that he’s not a hero. People will kill you. And you can’t say in the south that he’s a hero. People will kill you." But even in Tajik-heavy Kabul, you need only to start speaking to residents to find that Massoud is a touchy matter. Part of this is opposition to his political party, Jamiat-e Islami, and part suspicion of foreign intelligence services with a history of designs on Afghanistan - Massoud took money from all of them, from the CIA, MI6, and Pakistan’s Inter-Intelligence Service (ISI), from the French, probably the KGB, and even the Chinese. Part is class resentment - Marxism has never entirely left Afghanistan. Massoud, whose father was a general in King Zahir Shah’s army, was raised in upper middle-class wealth and attended a lycée. There is a feeling, even among other Tajiks, that Tajiks from the Panshjir Valley, where Massoud is from, are an arrogant bunch. When I asked him what he thought of Massoud, a Tajik taxi driver and former army officer when Massoud was defense minister, said "Panjshiris, they…" and instead of finding an adjective, he hunched up his shoulders, puckered his face and snorted haughtily. "They like British." (That’s an insult in Afghanistan.) foreignpolicy.com/2012/11/23/the-cult-of-massoud/

Those Afghans are led by the false narrative spewed by the enslaved Taliban, who want to bring fanaticism to Afghanistan. Massoud was an educated and brave man which is contrary to what Taliban believe. Taliban are thugs and wild animals fed by fanatic Islamic agenda. By now Afghans are too smart to believe in this crap.

Long live the legacy of massoud,,,, A true patriot & great revolutionary.. Only man who chould had changed the fate of afganistan but it's a shame that he was left helpless by other power during his last yrs of his fight against taliban which was supported by isi and pak army. How irony is that America attack afganistan by taking the help of massoud's northern alliances on the same yrs of massoud death..if American's had helped massoud in his fight against taliban earlier i think they wouldn't had lost as much soldiers as they r lossing now

This man stood against the international terrorism since the early 90s when thousands of Middle Eastern fighters flocked Pakistan to fight the communists. When communists left Afghanistan, they were looking to move into Central Asia, he refused to allow them to use Afghanistan as a launching pad for terrorist activities. That war was censored by the Western Media because the backers of those terrorists were Arab States and Pakistan with strong lobbies and it was dubbed as "Civil War". Massoud's weakness was that he was Tajik, Hanafi Sunni and an Intellectual. Arab countries were suspicious of him for being "Persian", Iranians were suspicious of him for being Sunni. April of 2001 when he travelled to Europe, he warned the West that if they do not help Afghanistan against terrorists, it will reach their shores. The US figured out his value as an Ally very late and post 9/11, it was his forces that helped US forces clear Afghanistan from the cancer of Taliban terrorists and their Al-qaida allies.

We don't have a national identity. Afghan refer juste to pashton people. And talibans never can't take panjshir because we are all tajiks(persians) in Panjshir and talibans are Pashtons

Where was the West, when he was struggling in the last free parts of Afghanistan against the Taliban? Had we intervened and aided them, the US may have prevented 9/11. Bin Laden had Massoud assassinated just days before the attacks.

Taliban being pashtun are not ethnically the same as panjshir hazara peoples . Southern afghanistan is pashtun and taliban sympathetic the north ethnically diverse. The country may divide over taliban rule. Kabul sits just south of the north like richmond is south of washington. North is Uzbek turkmen tajik hazara and chahar. Baluchis are mostly in south on afghan pakistan iran border but a fair number in the north. Talibanpashtun about 14 million is the largest ethnic group. This is not to say these northern ethnic groups are united . There are mountainous ranges between them . Now 2021 the past repeats to some extent.
