He's name is Sir Peter Barter member for Madang .He is second generation European neutralized citizen he has a resort ,Madang Resort .Sadly passed away last month missed by many a father figure to everyone.

it was the PNG Govt not passing the royalties over to the Bougainville Provincial Government. The mining company actually paid the money involved (as per the agreement) to the PNG Govt, who were meant to pass it on to the Bougainville Govt.(as per the agreement , but no, they didn't do that) It was the PNG Govt trying to rip off it's own people. Now what does globalisation have to do with this?

Yes they were freed after 3 or 4 more months after the filming. It was the first of its kind as both sides never took POW's. Before that all captured enemies on both sides usually loose their lives days after captivity. Ironically the Rebels "kind gesture" towards their enemy (by setting free these 5 POW's) paved the way for peace on the island. The war ended in 1998 and a peace agreement was signed in 2001.

Good Question. The Rebels had no overseas military aid. They started the war with shotguns and bows and arrows, other weapons used are old rusty WWII 303's. As the war progressed they captured their enemies modern automatic rifles (M16, M203 ect) and mortar bombs. All the automatic weapons are captured weapons from their enemy, The PNGDF.

They would get them from mainly Australians who they traded Marijuana with for them.

@@jaywarren333 I dont know where you got your story from but its not true. FYI the Australian government aided the PNGDF with the helicopters, training and Logistics. The rebels indirectly survived on these aids.
