This is my favorite comment on any of my videos just because of how random and observant it is, sounds like something I’d say!

I saw them live just 4 days after this at the ULU gig on the 8th February 1980. I was still only 16 years old at the time….3 weeks short of my 17th Birthday. That’s the gig that forms the bonus CD with the re-issue of Closer. I wasn’t aware of that until a few years ago. That’s still the best gig I ever went to….and I went to lots back in those days. Now I’ll be 60 at my next birthday. 😮

Just noticed that actually you saw them 2 months BEFORE this gig!!!! the gig is dated April 2nd 1980 (in the words under the title above)!!! 4/2/80 is the US way of recording the date: M/D/Y like 9/11 is the 11th Sept.

Barney fucks up some of the chords in the chorus, as per tradition, but that always gives extra taste to this ANIMAL beat God they were good

I’ve honestly done that before, recent car show I went to is a good example, thank you for commenting! I always love seeing people’s recollection of old bands.

Came back to listen to this version again; so visceral! As a huge fan from when they started and i learned about them in 1980, I can only say one thing: the influence they have to this day is a testament to the band and to Ian!

I remember it happening. I was at the ULU gig 4 days after this performance. I remember being very saddened by it but in a strange way bt surprised. It almost seemed Ian had been heading down this dark path in a lot his lyrics and his intense but detached stage presence.
@Spraxt2 жыл бұрын
I don't imagine he'd actually have been able to perform live for much longer as his epilepsy was so bad by the time of his death. I wonder what would have become of the band as the touring schedule would have been so demanding, starting with that fateful American tour. Would Ian have left the band anyway? He apparently spoke of leaving the music business before his death.
@Weenybean.2 жыл бұрын
Has it occured to you that he might not be dead? Just sacrificed his part for NO to reap success in the cabal industry? Nothing like a 'tragedy' to boost a band's profile. Aside from that , Curtis' inverted 'daughter' looks exactly like him. And Peel was a dress wearing freemason working for tavistock
