I know many Joy Division fans swear by Martin Hannett's production, but here are the boys stripped down in front of a mic. And they deliver the goods. Plenty of bottom end here. What a band! (And what a change since then from Peel's comments on their popularity.)

...for more of the many thousands of peel session recordings from the 60s 70s and 80s this one sounds particularly hi-fi...clear vocals, dry drums, clear and dry bass...noisy crunchy guitar, weird sounding synth and keyboard effects...it's a mix of light and dark.
