What does “build no lift” Mean?

A lift is a short music cut for maybe half a measure. I was telling the band we’re building but we’re not doing a small cut, we’re going to build all the way through. At different point in the song, we do do a lift, so the call out was to remind them it’s not at that point

What is “no lift”?

A lift is a short pause in the music. So when I yell “lift,” I’m telling the band to break for maybe half a measure. So when I was yelling “no lift,” I was saying to not do a lift there. I think maybe in practice someone had done a lift so I was reminding everyone it doesn’t happen there.
