As schoolboy in the late 60's/early 70's this song is among the biggest favorite. Back then almost everyone were believers and Christmas wasn't just a season for fun. The second line still intrigues my mind. It says "the Lord is come" instead of "the Lord is coming". Back in the days correctness was important, yet no one came up with a good explanation on why "is" and "come" were put together without the ing. Today it doesn't seem to matter anymore. hector vega Okay, but will you go to Heaven then? Can you be 100% sure you have earned a place in there? I don't. I can't be totally sure, Nobody can. Only the Creator decides. However, we should try our very best to be good and work up the ladder to increase our chances of getting there. It's like aiming for a goal. Like a long term goal in life only thing this will be the Afterlife. Just because any one of us humans think is morally superior or have prayed regularly without fail, praised Jesus, God or Allah, help our neighbors, donate to the poor or work hard to earn an honest living, doesn't mean we are better spiritually and in moral character if we are proud of our success or even our moral standards but then condemn or even mock at others who may be (spiritually) weaker or have fallen short in anything in life. Ironically, it shows we lack in one aspect of morality-humility-not being prideful or boastful in anything. YES, Heaven and Hell does exist and good people go to Heaven but bad people who don't say sorry and change may not be able to get there. However, we should not get ahead before God and judge and condemn others to eternal and unimaginable torment just because we may be angry, upset or disappointed with them. God also teaches patience and forgiveness. We should help them or guide them. If you want, be a pastor, counselor or religious teacher. Guide as many to goodness and morality.
