Good to see you again! The Lani looks ok. I like the fabric. I think shortening it was a good idea, but the crossover point in the front should be lowered an inch or two, in my opinion. Like when you make it again. You could also tack it closed at the top stitch point if you feel it's opening up too much. I appreciate your videos so much, and have really been missing you! I'm just getting into this video, but wanted to go ahead and comment on the Lani before I forgot! Hugs! Peggy

Sadly or not sadly I do have to agree with you. That tunic is not flattering. The fabric is very nice very pretty. I think it needs princess seams. Also, your choice of font when you are adding information onto the screen really should be something like Arial rounded font not something like Times new Roman and it’s too squished together. More kerning. Which equals more space between the letters. Other than that, still appreciate your videos you’re quite a character ❤️❤️❤️ I appreciate you calling out the names of the fabric because I started buying some from fabric Mart fabrics also, have you bought from Fabric wholesale direct? They have good stuff too sometime. And you are best suited for cool colors.

When you buy fabric and you’re not sure what you’re making how much yardage do you typically get?
@lilolmecj8 ай бұрын
lol, not Joy, but she buys three yards. You have to take a minute and consider…how wide is it? What do I “think” I might make? Forty five inch you will obviously need more, and some items just wouldn’t work. Speaking broadly, for forty five allowbfive yards for a dress or coat, knee length, three yards of sixty will probably work. I can’t tell you how much fabric I have of two yards that I have to pass over again and again because it isn’t enough for X project. And it depends on your size too…I am about an 18 on the big four patterns, with sixty wide I can usually get a tunic dress, straight from shoulders, nothing fancy and a tshirt from two yards. Obviously if the fabric is under ten dollars a yard I will err on the side of excess more than if it is sixty a yard.😸 I hope this helps some.
@Joy4650B8 ай бұрын
Good advice from Lilo. I always buy two yards of 60" wide. Always plenty for a top. If you wear a very large size, you definitely will need more. Buy three yards of 58"-60" or five yards of 45". For me: Pants - 2 1/2 yards. Dress - 3 yards. Either width works for me. I have 42" bust and 42" hips and I am 5'4" now.

The new revised top look great on you. Very good fit on this one. The pink fabric looks good on you. The banana, not so much. Too light. You fade out. Like the blue rayon "sketch". Pretty. The line drawings on the flower petals would be the "sketch" I believe. The 'banana pudding' fabric would be a good nightgown. Way too light for you to wear near your face, IMHO. The red with the scattered blue flowers will look good. Sad, that you don't like the feel of the fabric, but that blue with the white mums would be a gorgeous dress, maxi if possible. Agree, that last fabric is not for you.

I don't know where that person that says no one can wear large prints got her information from, but she is incorrect. I can't wear small prints because they look way too busy on me, and I am lost in it. Larger prints and true colors look best on me. On another note, I suffered from acid reflux for over ten years and took prescription medicine twice a day. I broke down and went to a Functional Medicine Doctor because I was fed up with my condition. Would you believe he discovered my acid reflux was caused by my inability to digest protein and a gluten allergy!? I removed both from my diet and haven't had acid reflux since. It's been almost five years now, and I lost 50lbs almost immediately because I had so much inflammation and bloat in my gut. My only regret is none of the dozens of doctors I went to could tell me anything except I have a fatty liver and need to lose weight. I healed my liver, got rid of the inflammation and bloat, and lost 50lbs in about six months.
@Joy4650B8 ай бұрын
That is WONDERFUL Cheryl! I am so happy you told me that. I can't imagine not eating any protein. It is usually spicy things that give me reflux -- acidic anything -- and if I eat too much. It is hard to eat differently than I feed my husband. He has never had reflux at all and can eat anything.
@cherylhendershot28598 ай бұрын
I understand all too well, Joy! My husband and I have very different diets as he doesn't suffer the allergies and dietary issues I do. I have to admit it was hard to figure out what to eat in the beginning, and it's costly to support two different diets. I do miss protein, but avoid it like the plague because it really messes me up. I eat mostly fish and vegetables, it can be rough at times because my husband eats whatever he wants and I have had to learn to get creative in my cooking.

Hi Joy. My husband often watches your channel along with me, he was wondering what Jerry does all day while you're sewing?
@Joy4650B7 ай бұрын
Hello to your husband! My husband is usually on his computer researching something. When he needs something -- say an air compressor or power washer -- he researches every one in the world! He spent days researching tv's before purchasing one for this house. Drives me crazy. LOL. He also checks on all the investments daily. He goes shopping with me for groceries and we go out to eat a lot. He goes over to his barn and gets his boat cleaned up or his lures organized or vacuums or whatever. If something is broken in the house, he fixes it. Light switches, light bulbs, toilet seats, furniture. We both hate anything to be broken or stained. Always something to do. Jerry always does the dishes after we eat dinner. Sometimes, he sets the table. I usually have everything done already except for what we actually use to eat our dinner on. After dinner, we watch whatever we can find on KZbin because TV and the news is awful. Our TV is never on at all until about 7 PM or later. We both like to stay busy all day. Oh, he loves to watch Thunder basketball games, but the season is over now. He wants to go fishing in his boat for the first time tomorrow here at the "new" house with our Nephew.
