I think The Holy Knights are rotating Gorosei candidates, so they train substantially more not having reached the peak. Garling happens to be the first promotion in what seems like centuries. Aside from immortal restoration there should be some Knights who can match or exceed the Gorosei in power. I had a theory long before Egghead that Mihawk was a clone of Gol D. Roger as they're both dissections of Olivier Levasseur, Roger paralleling Levasseur's execution and Mihawk having a close enough epithet, Levasseur's being "The Buzzard" or "The Hawk" and Mihawk's being "Hawk-eye" so Shanks being one isn't too far from that idea imo.

SSnakes affection for Luffy stayed the same, so this could also work for a clone of an old arch enemy of Joyboy to find the prophesied reincarnation of him. My pridiction is that Mosa is actually King Harold himself. Loki was wrongly framed for the murder and so he ate the fruit so atleast it would be within the Royal family and not stolen by the real murderers. The warriors of Elbaf jumped him and now he's all fussy wussy. I think he disagreed with his father on the whole school thing as he obviously would want the children to be raised as warriors. Which is the reason that other warriors of Elbaf would believe that Loki is definitely the perpetrator.

i think the answer to who this Not-Shanks is is simple Figarland Garling is 99% Shanks' father, at least we know this thanks to the supplementary stuff to Film Red since the sketched pages show how shanks was found by Gol D. Roger and the rest of his crew. if we simply go by the assumption that Shanks is Garling's son who was adopted by Roger after God Valley, and we can assume that due to how similar he looks to young Garling from the egghead flashbacks, it is not far-fetched to assume that he could have a twin brother... as for the pentacle; well, Garling just got promoted to Gorosei, and the silhouette that we saw when Dragon mentioned the God's knights mobilizing did look a lot like Shanks, thus, the simplest answer is that Garling, now a Gorosei and having access to their special powers from Imu, is the one who teleported Shanks' twin brother to Elbaph on a special mission. thinking back to the moment when "Shanks" appears to talk with the gorosei at the reverie, due to his left side remaining obscured, we can also confidently assume that it was actually Not-Shanks coming to ask them about a specific pirate... who? perhaps he saw Shanks and was wondering why the hell that guy looks so much like him

The Mosa/Loki dynamic reminds me of how some women seem drawn to imprisoned men. They converse via mail and sometimes even start having relationships via phone. Heh heh heh, Shanks having a brother (of any kind, although "evil twin" is what most people are thinking) is definitely a shakeup. Oda is getting older and less able to draw to the standard he sets for One Piece chapters; this was certainly a bombshell worth ending 2024 on as he goes to rest for the New Year holidays. P.S. Joy_Boy, concerning Mosa... I have a feeling this might be Loki's girlfriend, friend (who is a girl), daughter (Think Hela ruling the underworld of Helheim.), some woman who is close to him. He would not use the endearment '-ko' suffix otherwise. My eyes are not on "evil Shanks" but the fellow Celestial Dragon (Mosa?) that was summoned to Elbaph with him.

I was looking forward to your chapter review because at the end of it I was drawing a blank! The Elbaf culture which is an obviously a hint towards our modern day pc culture in real life, and immediately we get to see shady figures that may just end up exploiting that same way of living, which I think is also a hint at what's happening in our real world. Also I wanted to mention that Bonney has been a child ever since she was reunited with Kuma at the end of Egghead, plus Luffy 'freeing' her, literally. She probably isn't a heavy eater anymore since she doesn't have to compensate the expended energy with food like Luffy does.

Now... this chapter... Ok, the government still wants to make a giant army, since we get to know back in Punk Hazard. This king Harald... I think he was corrupted by the government, whom were always afraid of giant warriors... and the king took out the idea of being warriors from the minds of the new generation of giants. They now are afraid of being warriors, pirates... So, the government fought the giants without drawing a sword to kill them, and still have them alive to keep their 'dream' to make a giant army. My thoughts & opinions of the chapter: 1. When reading the way Luffy was talking to Saul, I now wonder if the Elbaph arc will mostly involve how Luffy will handle the other side of being an Emperor, which doesn't involve brute force as he displayed during Egghead. 2. Judging by the conversation that Loki had with this Mosa person, could it be possible that he/she is somehow involved in what Loki did to his father, and why he was imprisoned in the 1st place? 3. If the hooded man is somehow Shanks's "twin brother", then wouldn't this lead Luffy into learning a less pleasant side of his fellow Emperor?!

Honestly, I think there is something special to the Celestial Dragons bloodline that Imu keeps them up there and doesn't want them to mix with other races. Even though the average Celestial Dragon thinks he or she is a God, I think Imu somehow has the option to infuse powers or control these people because of their bloodline. Hence the reason why they don't mix with others. Because even when they get themselves slave wives, we all know it's just for bed activities. I'm suspicious the garlings are clones of the pirate joyboy that were started as a project way back in the ancient kingdom era, probably as something similar to the current seraphim s-clones, but with classic red blood like we see with Germa. I think green blood is exclusively a modern invention. Introducing replicas with Joyboy's face and similar haki in a battle during void century? That could easily have been a tool to flip the sides of joyboy's crew (like whatever zunisha did). If not, Shanks & Stabs still might be Garling clones because he's the CD's goat. Or that family has the strongest genes we've seen so far in the series.

So is Oda changing how the summoning circles work, because I thought it was one circle per summoned individual and required a summoner, neither of which were shown in this chapter. So either the Gorosei are special and each need their own summoning circle or the unknown female God's Knight secretly invaded Elbaph and summoned "Garling Junior." Another option about the summoning circles is that the summoner is killed in the process which is why we don't see one in this chapter and how Saturn an immortal being survived after summoning the other Gorosei. Also since the summoning circle was used to bring in the likely major arc villains and we know from Egghead that Haki in high enough density can destroy them, is this hinting at what Luffy will have to do in order to defeat them.

hmm.. remember that loki was always a god of mischief and deception in every depiction of him. if you think that he is good. oda might've succeed to trick you. honestly, i thought about it too. but when i read the previous chapters of the context him being tied up right there for years. that said a lot about his destructive ambitions. even if his vision is good, he probably would use every way necessary to get there. just like akainu. we recently know that king harold is the one who changed the giants way of living from the former barbarian into somewhat civilized now. obviously if loki killed him, its probably because of ideology, maybe loki wanted to turn the giants in its former warrior's glory. and if you think about it... luffy and usopp probably would've want that as well. i can see they feel a little disappointed seeing the state of the giants now. this is what i like about one piece, we can ponder and wonder, we can think of every little possibilities, but still, we're so excited to see it finally unfold. and often times, its not what we expected.

Shank's brother's name is Stabs, actually. And I think Stabs being a clone of Garland *could* be an interesting route to go down. It feels like a way to do the evil twin trope but in a way you don't expect? Imagine Shank's being born and Garland is like "wow, this baby will never be as strong as me. Why bother mating with others at all? I am the perfect being so there should just be more of me." So he throws Shanks into a gutter or whatever and decides to clone himself. I think vegapunk being revived takes away from Kizarus character moment just a tad bit, although this gives Kizaru a necessary chance to reconcile his relationship with vegapunk

This chapter really reinforces a character arc I’ve been thinking about for Usopp since Wano. Back then, he openly criticized Wano’s samurai code of throwing their lives away for honor, arguing instead for the value of surviving to fight another day. Now, seeing Usopp disillusioned by the shift in Elbaf’s culture makes me think Oda is setting him up to redefine what it truly means to be a brave warrior-not by the old, rigid traditions of the Elbaf giants, but on his own terms. Usopp’s journey feels like it’s building toward a philosophy that strikes a balance between Elbaf’s traditional fighting spirit and its more progressive pacifism. It’s reminiscent of Shanks’ approach, where strength and combat are a last resort, used only to protect those you love-a philosophy that’s been brought up in earlier chapters.

@ thanks! I’d figured since Usopp didn’t have much going on in Wano, his critique towards Kinemon and Kiku’s stubbornness would at least develop into something more in the Elbaf arc. Kind of like how Sanji’s character development in Whole Cake Island progresses even further in Wano with his raid suit and his fight against Queen

Stussy was said to be the first successful clone and she was created 36 years ago. Shanks is 39, so I don't think the timeline adds up for him to be a clone.
