@tollcross first of all: you can buy a Grammy now if u know the right people, and the way opera works now: agree with their political opinions and kiss ass knowing the right people and no talent u have a contract. La Scala has become a disgrace since the 1970's so that point isn't as valid anymore.

What's the story with Goerke not being in the free Met marathon, and not doing one of the solo concerts? Not singing at all. Is she retiring? She's an OK hostess, but only that, and it was strange having her fulsome praise for Davidson, a Wagnerian competitor? They shoudl rotate the hosts, Goerke is too gee whiz about everything.

@@wotan10950 Yes, that was for the improvised Met marathon-though given all the other singers with "big voices" who sang, I never really got it. But the Met concert series, as they keep pointing out are being broadcast on regular professional audio equipment. There is, must be some other reason? So you don't know any more than I do. (By the way they already had Lisa Davidson a big voiced Wagnerian) Again how about rotating the hosts the way they do for the HDs-nothing against Goerke a time or two, but she's very one dimensional in her approach.
