Absolutely priceless! I hope these artists never forget a single word Joyce said.

She is so human, so clear in what concerns music, situation and the possibilities of the singer. GREAT!

I love Joyce's laid-back approach to getting the best out of each singer. She's so patient and passionate.

I was shouting EMINEM, haha, when you mentioned "lose yourself in the music," Joyce. You're a master teacher. I was so sorry to miss you in NYC this year. Next year and every year, please!

Ben is ridiculously talented… he’s just not used to showing real emotion and I think he’s very shy - he just needs to learn to blot out the audience and allow himself to feel. He’s an introvert!

Notice how neat and clean the audience is..how standards have dropped in the last 2/3 decades

I beg you to RUN from this woman. She has been gifted with an astonishing ( but understandable given the timing) career. Listen to her singing- the pushing, the intonation, the lack of freedom. I'm glad she lucked out. But, I beg you to run.

Exactly! DiDonato is a perfect example of the US opera system at work-constantly making up its own rules and promoting its own singers, desperate to distance itself from traditional European taste. She knew exactly how to play the game, using the system to her advantage and climbing to the top. Meanwhile, even legends like Callas, who embraced the European tradition, were ignored by the MET for decades-despite being born right in their backyard. If you attend enough performances in the US, you’ll notice plenty of these “big chunk of nothing” sopranos and tenors-huge volume but completely lacking tone or musicality. And it gets worse: mezzos with grating, overdone vibratos, like DiDonato. It’s a distinct style, alright-what I’d call the McDonald’s version of opera singing. Mass-produced, flashy, and utterly soulless.
