As a working mom, thank you so much for your kind words. I literally had to sit down (was washing dishes while watching after getting kiddo to bed) and sob for a sec because I suddenly didn’t feel alone! Summer is always so stressful and, exactly as you said, I always feel I’ve got the balance wrong. I needed that so much it hurts! 💕💕💕

You’re so lucky to have a summer. Here in the Uk it’s still cold 17-19c 64/68f .. I’m sick of it. I love the heat, long for it, it’s the thing I look forward to most. Heat.. But no yet again summer in the uk is not happening! Love your bedding and other tips, great if you have the heat. 👍🇬🇧

I so needed to hear what you said about never getting the summer balance right with kids! I tried so hard this year and my kids hate their day camp and fight with each other when they’re home 😂 I appreciate the reminder that there probably wouldn’t have been a “perfect” or even better than this. 1. Hair care for me has always been an issue. Every time my body goes through a hormonal change, my hair has changed. Yes, from turning 14 to 42. I went from iron straight to waves to ringlets. And I have 0 idea what to do. It is fine, now half as thick as it was 4 yrs ago, and I just tend not to brush it as much because I love the ringlets ❤ 2. Working mom life sucks. My daughter hated day camps. But I had a great dayhome provider (great girlfriend of mine) who took my daughter full-time in the summer. Really helped because she would do day trips to the library once a week for the kids. 3. Jen, I can not say this enough to you. I am so happy to have you in my life. Your words of guidance in life is always helpful ❤

Good luck on your journey to grey! I'm not that brave yet but admire those that are! My mother was an avid reader. After she passed, I found cheat sheets in her books. She always wrote down characters and how they were related to keep track of everyone.

I'm in the SC Lowcountry and I ❤ the heat. I'm constantly outside in the summer. That little trickle of sweat sliding down the center of my back is bliss. I only stay inside when it's below 40, which is rare around here! But also, we have a screened in in-ground pool so that definitely helps and we're 30 minutes from the beach. ❤ 🌞⛱️ And I don't have heart related health issues. But also I walk the dog at 630 am and 730 pm so the concrete doesn't burn her paws.

Thank you for the working mom pep talk - I needed to hear it! We are one week into summer break here, and I had a bit of a breakdown mid-week because my perfectly planned camp schedule that was set back in March seemed like it was crumbling due to my husband's job being short staffed and his schedule unexpectedly changing. It took a bit of rearranging to figure out pick up for two of the weeks, but not after several tears were shed and a bit of screaming into the void! Do not get me started on summer camps that only run until noon or 4:00 pm when working parents need care for their kids until 5pm or later... ugh...
@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge4 ай бұрын
Yeah and NOBODY TALKS ABOUT IT and all the parents are killing themselves trying to make it work for them, their kids, and their bank account. It’s seriously the worst.

Summer sucks as a working mom! I feel like summer is when it hurts most that I work because I feel so out of control that they’re home and doing things I don’t want them to because caregivers are more permissive or that I’m not making summers magical enough and that I’m missing out on time with them that I won’t get back
@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge4 ай бұрын
I remember feeling this very strongly. Having said all that, you are modeling for them something powerful in terms of work and life and dedication AND you're also giving them the opportunity to learn independence. I think you're doing far better than you think you are. And for most of us, having an income is essential in order to provide their roof, their food, and their education. YOU ARE DOING GREAT.
@MyFocusVaries3 ай бұрын
We ran the neighbourhood when we were kids. My mom was the only working mom of our crowd. Studies show it's good for kids to entertain themselves and find things to occupy themselves. I tended a garden bed my dad gave me responsibility for. We had chores, we hung out with our friends. We don't need to make every day magic for our kids.
