I remember the exact day Selena passed.. I lived in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood in TX at the time and when I tell you... YOU COULD LITERALLY FEEL THE SORROW IN THE AIR! In school kids were crying and by that evening there were candles in ALOT of windows. People were also outside playing her music literally in tears.. I was a kid at the time and didn't know who she was before then but I'll never forget how I learned about her

Joyner deserves more recognition than he currently gets. I'm bi-partisan but will admit that l usually lean a little more right, I always try to listen to both sides of any issue. He's helped me open my eyes to a whole lot of topics. Learning different point of views is so important to ensure we don't lose ourselves as a country and society as a whole. This song touches on so much and I can't thank him enough for it. 💕

I’m a Brooklyn kid, never wanted college, been touched up beat, mom beat on, homeless, hungry, hateful, and I had a bad temper. My best friend at that time had been through the same situation and worse, except he was better than me, he wanted more than me and though all he saw was evil and wrong he leaned towards the good anyway. In the summer of ninth grade he was shot while we were walking home. I fell in to depression, I didn’t want to be in the streets, I decided to go to college for him, I slowly lost that temper and became a thinker, someone who considers others and my actions, i always lean towards what’s right if when I don’t want to because he would have. My biggest dilemma was always, why would god take him instead of me that day, he was a better kid than me, he was greater. I told this to an old man and he asked me, “maybe that boy you were was lesser at the time but answer this, because of his death who are you now, where would you have been if he hadn’t died?” He told me that we think simple mindedly , he said that one day we all die , it’s not a bad thing regardless of the timing, that boy was used to change my entire life, and the only one who think it is unfair are the ones who see death as unfair, it is where we end up after words that determines, he said I saw a loss to a cruel world, god saw a gain to his heavenly realm while also building me. Think about, 2 pac has amazing impact alive but who’s to say he would have touched the amount of people he did if he didn’t die. His death was not shallow, it was something that impacted the world and made him immortalized as a great man, xxx wasn’t regarded as a legend till he died, maybe God doesn’t think of death as a consequence of sort but there’s something bigger that death achieves and that they will be rewarded after death, in terms of life and afterlife. Death if your headed to heaven could be a reward. Enoch for an example.
