Some of the stuff the white dude said is VERY true, but hard to swallow for black people. And, the opposite is true; some of what he said is not so true, is long-time stereotyping, and doesn't really apply any more. The exact same si true of when the black dude talks. Some is true, some is not. The "thing" here is Joyner is trying to get not just the view from one side or the other, but both. And part of that is for you, me, and all, to try not to "justify", or explain it all away, but to face it. If, you (meaning anyone) gets too defensive about it all, it means you may be a part of the problem. That is what this is about...
