Thanks for this. Mine looks exceedingly worse than yours, but I'm so glad you provided a 3-month update. It gives me the push to go ahead and cut off a lot of it and give it a fresh start. Mine is has extremely long plant babies (3-4ft), but they are all crispy and look worse than the babies you have coming off yours. I'm so glad you're knowledgeable about EVERYTHING. I have never seen another plantuber who showed how to trim a rootball. Anyway, thanks so much. I'm in the garden due to the corona shutdown and your videos really help me!

Oh my lord. You are the cutest human I have seen in a very long time. My mother used to make me wake up at 6am every morning to garden outside before the sun rose and it got hot. My extent of plant knowledge - save re-potting plants she would bring home from the nursery and....watering and weeding. Green thumb must have skipped a generation. Mom always had spider plants in the house. I bought 9 adorable tiny baby plants from a local nursery and promptly unintentionally murdered all except the hardy spider plant (named Araña). Was looking to make her happier and to propogate her babies and found this video - and I am so grateful this morning!

Informative video. I would have liked to see how you fully pruned the plant and what was left of it. My large, one happy spider plant turned yellow and then brown in the winter where, in the Uk, the days are very short. I suspect my plant is pruning as well so I would have liked to see how you did yours.

Hello! I came here for a question on my variegated spider. I just brought it in the house for the winter. I feel like it may have been shocked by moving it inside. It was doing absolutely beautiful on my front deck with little bit of morning sun. It grew babies better then any of my spider plants have ever done. I've never seen anything like it! Literally about 150 babies...atleast! I have been clipping as they are ready and propagating them and potting and giving away to friends. My problem I am having is there is a brown stripe down the middle of alot the leaves. Not the tips like you Typically get on a spider. I will be repotting eventually but kinda wanted to wait until I got through the winter. And I do have it sitting in a window that gets morning sun. Can you help me with what I should do? Thank you!
@Plantsandtoyhorses5 жыл бұрын
Underestimating the root ball to the new pot size..been there! ^^ I adore my two spider plants gifted to me as babies, they are the usual variegated variety. But I am trying to find an all-green spider plant like Nell's. Are they fairly rare? I have not seen them for sale at least here in my corner of Maryland, or some shops in Virginia. :)

Hi Nell, a different repotting question. I reported my string of pearls and it is now dying 😭 what can I do to fix it? Before repotting it was thriving
@TdominoB5 жыл бұрын
If it is dying from the top/base of the plant, it is probably too wet, so you could take cuttings to replace it. Make sure the soil is not at all heavy as they don't like wet feet. How would you describe its appearance? 🌿
@JoyUsGarden5 жыл бұрын
Did you use succulent mix Mercedes? Make it drains well. Nell
@mercedescervantes36405 жыл бұрын
JoyUsGarden hi Nell yes I did use succulent mix. But it is dying badly. I’m not sure if this is was right or not, but I did also put Little Rock’s in the bottom of the pot because the pot did not have a drain hole

same here. I do good and then BAM!!! they are going south. Well it does depend on the variegation of the plant. I do better with the greener spider plants with the white in the center vs the other way around.
@marsstory9085 жыл бұрын
Keep it in bright indirect sun and soil should be a bit dry in between watering...I have tons of spider plants and babies cannot handle to much water and too much sun either...you also can mist in the morning when it's too hot weather.

@rebeccasuraci76664 жыл бұрын
Mine too. I assumed it was over watering and perhaps scorching in front of the window. I chilled out on watering following my moisture meter, just spritzing and I do only use distilled.. and moved it over on the shower rod next to my monstera in a slightly ,ore shady spot. It made matters worse. I legit don’t know what happened. I stopped watering and it’s drastically worsened. It was just one weeks difference. I have bad luck with easy plants and good luck with hard plants. Why.

I nearly killed my spider plants last time I repotted them, and I thought it was because I got rid of so many of the micro-roots that were throughout the pot (v thin network of roots, don't know their real name). Should one try not to disturb those as much as possible? Or perhaps it was something else that sent them into such shock?
