Brilliant truck combinations. Making full use of the power of the mighty Volvo and scania flagships. To all you American viewers, this is proper high power, high weight capacity distribution, European style. No poxy 80,000 lbs load limits here. Most of those American trucks (although some are nice) are all fur coats and no knickers!!!

In Sweden you just need a CE-license to drive those combinations. Mostly because most Swedish drivers do their drivers test with those combinations. So even if I've mostly driver semi trucks, with a 50 ton limit (no overhang on the container chassi trailer so the wheelbase can be longer), I still did my tests with a 24 meter combination.

Meanwhile in finland our trucks are 34,5 meter long and 76-tons.wreight. Sad but true in here..if your truck not are atleast 25,25 meter it is useless in are homeland hauling. In a future under 30 meter trucks are coming way too small.Cargo loads growing and we need accsept that.Means bigger trucks and trailers.

Great video explanation. A shame that restriction for the lenght of the truck are not equal all across Europe. I really can't understand why the "political" or whatever reasons for this. As a spanish truck driver, i feel that that the 750hp. of the Volvo FH16 I drive are wasted with a maximal lenght of 16,5 meters... a real shame.
@TheMadSqu7 жыл бұрын
Because the roads wear out faster if you have heavier trucks running on it. roads and especially bridges in Germany are in real bad conditions due to years of cutting in maintenance costs. Maybe the toll for cars might chance something about that now but I don´t think so.
@Wiikendzgoodmix6 жыл бұрын
TheMadSqu Its all about axles.. not max weight
@OverPowerz6 жыл бұрын
yes, youre right. having 5 axles on 50t puts as much wear on road as 10 axles with 100t. so having a general weight limitation is unecessary in that matter. but 100t puts a lot more stress on the trucks themselves compared to 50t since the engine and drivetrain has to be put under twice the load to do anything at all. so its all in what way you look at it in.

Mooie opnames.

Doesn't the ferry allow 25.25 m combinations? You could save a lot of money doing the trailer reorganization in the German harbor before driving onto the ferry rather than doing it in Sweden. Also, the gross vehicle weight table was amended about two years ago, now it goes to 64 tonnes if 20.2 m from first to last axle.

+grobetog I also think you misunderstood the ferry part, it's only the 2 truck there are on the ferry + 1 trailer [without Tractor], so it isn't 3 truck on the ferry, in the old days, we did sail out with the ferry from Copenhagen [Tuborg havn] with 24 m combi, as was allowed in Sweden before the new 25.25 m rules...

Well said Adi, you beat me to it. the fault is the stupid limiter laws the drivers have to live with, as do car drivers. Blame the legislators, not the drivers. There is a simple solution of course, allow short limiter override, say 5 minutes, to allow lighter and faster lorries to pass quicker and more safely. Of course they won't do it, anymore than the UK won't allow trucks to drive at the legal speed in UK, 60 mph (100km/hr), when they could cancel the EU inspired law along with all the rest. Or, perhaps, force limiters on ALL vehicles Ha Ha. Who'd be stupid then Mr Brat (well named btw;-) )
