Hey guys, Halloween is in a month, and my profile picture is in a costume! I spent the past week designing some clothes to go with my channel, as well as some Halloween designs that I'm sure you'll find amusing. Check it out! teespring.com/stores/jperm (10% off sale until Oct 14! promo code: SPOOKY) It may seem too soon for Halloween-themed clothing, but shipping times may be slow depending on where you live so I wanted to get the message out early. Next video I'm unboxing some clothes :)

I still have to practice to get rid of the small lookahead errors I make though :p

Hey guys, I have always been color neutral because when I first learned I was not taught to always start in one color. That means I never had to worry about it at all and I never gained any bad habits that were hard to break. So when you teach new people to solve a cube, do them a favor and tell them to start on whichever center has most edges attached and never mention that they should look at color. It does not make it any harder and when they get fast they will appreciate it

This video was amazing. I watched it 2 years ago and became color neutral-ish in maybe 3 months. Now, I am confident in saying that I consider myself fully color neutral. 2 extra comments: 1. Color neutrality is good even though you save only 1 move on average because average isn't everything. My last 2 PBs (9.04 and 9.23) were both on colors other than white. I'm glad I became color neutral just because of that. 2. I think the second approach you recommended (learn 1 extra color at a time, 1:25) was better for me. I tend to get distracted (like rn) and have a hard time working on one thing for a long time. I tried but wasn't able to continue solving on every color because the improvement (per color) was just too slow. I think I would've given up if I didn't switch to approach 2.

As a tip i put white cross away for some days and start for another color( e.g. Red). The main thing is in F2L bcoz i can make a cross at inspection and oll pll will only take some days. But try to do f2l only for specific color. Means solve the cross and don't see cube and start time and solve the f2l. I think this is the best way.☺☺☺

Dude, this video was a big motive to me, thanks for giving me advice from this video which got me thinking of CN, right now, i’m trying to learn blue cross, then i’ll move to red, then green, then orange. Yellow and White are already essential colors I always see during solves, so I don’t need to learn those. Again, I appreciate your effort into making this video, you’ve truly helped majority of the people who are tryingto learn Full CN! 😁

I used the 1st method of becoming CN from white (a little bit yellow) a little more than a year after i started cubing. Took me roughly 6 weeks to become full CN. However during the process i noticed i was having a little trouble starting on red/orange so simply practiced those colours more til i became comfortable with it. Now i mainly do red/orange but i am still CN and will go for an easy cross on any other colour

Thank you for introducing me to Color Neutral as a concept. I recently learned how to solve the cube by the basic method to reach a life time goal of mine. I'm not really interested in increasing my speed because fast was not my goal. I wasn't sure where to go next until this video. I think I will become color neutral before white side first becomes too ingrained. I just solved it blue side first. It was a little slower than starting with white, but not as much as I thought it would be

I would choose to use the layer by layer method at first (for the first two layers) when I am starting to solve the cross on a colour other than white, then I would use the standard OLL and PLL method for the last layer. When you are learning how to become colour neutral, it is the F2L that you need to worry about the most, the secondary thing you need to worry about would be the cross (especially if you need to solve the cross without aligning it at first). You don't really have to worry too much about OLL and PLL when you solve those cases on a different colour, but you may want to worry about the last layer if you are using COLL or ZBLL/ZBLS.

The tutorial that taught me how to solve the cube was using the green side. So i only knew how to solvw with that color until i began learning 2-look and all the tutorials were using the white side. So i was forced to adapt. Now i realize it was good that i learned using the green side since now I already color neutral with white,yellow, green, and blue

Here’s my color neutrality journey. In August 2017when I was sub-16, I decided to become cn. I began with jumping right into full color neutrality, but after a few discouraging days that included an average with an 8 and a 27, I decided to do an ao100 on each color, then try full cn. This worked remarkably well for me, but I’d recommend doing maybe 200 on each color before jumping in to full cn. After a year, I’m sub-13 and still slightly prefer white and yellow but I’m totally comfortable with all 6 colors. If you actually read this far, thanks, and here’s why I became color neutral: I didn’t want to miss out on an insanely easy scramble in comp just because it was on a different color. That’s literally it.

I am actually kind of used to solve cross on every side because when I first started cubing, I would do the color which had the most edges oriented but as I learned cfop, I started doing the cross on only white. So I think it will be easier for me to become color neutral from now on. And I am already color neutral on 2x2. (when I started 2x2 I didn't even know what color neutral was and I was already doing the first layer on the color which had the most corners oriented. SO BASICALLY I AM COLOR NEUTRAL ON CORNERS BUT NOT ON EDGES. I KNOW IT IS WEIRD BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS.)

I'm curious, do you have any thoughts on color neutral for 4x4? I did it myself when becoming more serious about 4x4, and I actually would recommend it for a few different reasons. If you wanted to you could even do so as a video experiment to track the benefits of it and see if it seems worthwhile in general. And I'll say more about my experience and thoughts if it's interesting, I just don't want to make a giant paragraph right now lol.

I've been color neutral ever since I started with the begginers method. I think the worst part of it is that, sometimes, you can't decide which cross is the "less worst" and that takes you A LOT of inspection time. This doesn't happen that often, though.

Btw, I was color neutral when I was using beginners, but after I changed to CFOP, I solved only on white and then it carried over to yellow cross bc of the same side colors. I also have tried to be CN after CFOP, but I gave up. (When I averaged 30s to 20s). As of now, I have currently started learning CN today, and I average anywhere from low 20s to sub 20 with only DCN (white & yellow aka dcn), but I average 30s to 20s without DCN. (No yellow or white cross. Only B. O. R. G. crosses, aka blue, orange, red, and green.)

This just blew my mind; I average 50 seconds and have been stuck there for 3 year. I usually start with any random color. I didn't realize that I was attempting to be "color neutral." I thought everyone just solved whatever color was best. What this taught me is that I'm actually NOT color neutral: I'm just equally slow on all the colors! I think now to improve, if I understand correctly, I need to focus on one color and get way better.

Lol I became color neutral right after I half learned f2l and 4 look last layer (I started trying color neutrality after I learned beginner’s method). You just have to have a screw-it attitude and mess around with the cube until it works. I think learning so early on (a month after I decided I wanted to cube) really works. You don’t get that much slower at my level at that time and when inspecting, I just look at the colors of the edges relative to the ones I already have. I don’t memorize the patterns of the colors and for f2l, I find the pair’s slot relative to the sides I can see. I mean idk if that’s color neutrality but I’m not faster on any particular side and I usually solve on any side with some edges solved. This might not make any sense but just remember what colors are opposite and look at the centers and just remember the relative spots of the colors for each solve. Not memorizing, just be logical and PAY ATTENTion to colors. You’d be surprised how much is subconscious. I still can’t inspect my first pair (that is just me no matter what the side) but f2l isn’t as bad as some of you say it is? Perhaps it’s because I got so used to it in the beginning. Either way, for f2l, corner pieces are what you should focus on.

F2L is a lot easier when you're not color neutral. I started neutral since I learned to solve, but started sticking to white crosses once i started getting better at F2L because it just made lookahead and seeing pieces so much easier.

I’m a natural opposite color neutral person, I’m capable of learning just 1 color and it can translated to the opposite color. I’m currently working on green and red only so blue and orange isn’t a big deal for me. White is the color I first started when I learn how to solve btw, yellow had the same color combination so I do not have any difficulties adapting to it.

if you are going to become colour neutral i highly suggest just becoming colour neutral as because you are doing all of them once your brain gets used to not juts filtering out white and yellow you will be able to solve on all colours and in my experience it onloy took me a week to go from white only to full colour neutrality using this method.

Color neutrality for Roux is a little bit harder because to use Roux, you have to know the color scheme perfectly since centers on the middle layer don't matter and because Roux uses block building.

I actually go with the first one. I was full cn once and lost the doigté after not using the cube for a long time, I was even full cn petrus and the same thing: happened, lost most of the doigté. I thought of coming with two concepts in cubing: first one is solving the rest of the cube within f2l last pair, I made a few algs for that up until now I have 2 of them R U' R' U' R U R' and the second one is R U R' U R U R'. The second concet consists of making 3 blocks or f2l-1 within 12-16 moves HTM and to exaggerate 8 moves. And if you allow me, I came with the idea of making an advanced beginner LBL method wich would help increase look ahead. Sorry if you see some mistakes, English is not my language.

Yeah true , now I’m averaging like 10-11 on yellow and 9 on white. White is still my main colour and I do yellow in special cases. @gabechevalier1567
@gabechevalier1567 5 жыл бұрын
@@keplercuber9155 if you want to be full CN, definitely start practicing it. This way, you won't get into the habit of doing dual CN just to have to switch styles again. However, if you really only want to be dual CN, then only doing white and yellow is a viable approach to practicing.
@keplercuber9155
@keplercuber9155 5 жыл бұрын
@Gabe Chevalier I have read in several places that Dual CN gives 50% of the benefit of being complete CN. But I know this isn’t true because I used to be CN and I am already familiar with all the colors. So I’m still confused is I should switch to CN or continue dual CN. Now I think I’m mostly going to become CN. Sorry for so much stuff and also thanks.
