The reason why I like cubes of Rubiks brand, and have quite a few of them: After doing a few solves on Rubik's Cube(s), when you do solves on your main speedcube(s), you feel extremely satisfied and happy. Also, the tiles are a really unique design.

Minor correction: the Rubik's void cube does not have a core. The edges hook directly into the corners - you can pop the outer part of the edge with a flat screwdriver and see the mechanism.

What I like about the void cube is that it can have a parity error even though its a 3×3. It's a cool concept and helps you understand mathematically what actually happens in the parity errors.

3:11 - for your response, I'm French, and even though you're right that you can't translate a pun, they did find one. on the english part, for some reason, the pun word is "new" and not "hole", but in french, it's the "hole" part that is highlighted in green. it's meant to say "Un < tout > nouveau défi" which means "a whole new challenge", and they switched < tout > with < trou > which means "hole".

Yes, the inscription in French makes sense😂 and here's why: It says "Un "trou" nouveau défi" and it translates to "A whole new challenge" The word game is similar to the "hole" and "whole" in English, cause in French there's the word "trou" which corresponds to "hole" and "Tout" that corresponds to "whole". "Tout" is not written but just as we imagine "whole" by reading "hole", we imagine "Tout" by reading "trou". So yeah, a nice little word game🙃

I got the Rubik's 4x4 about 3 years ago during my first time playing with cubes (now is the second time, after three years of break) and this reminded me just how scammed I felt when I got an OfFiCiaL 4x4 from a local store. I since have trust issues in the Rubik's brand, but O didn't buy online back then. I mean imagine being THE brand that the whole invention is named after (I mean I know they're both named after the inventor but you get the point) and the only brand to be found in your average physical stores and you literally can't turn some of the sides sometimes and have to go opposite direction 3 times. That's what being scammed feels like.

Hi ! writing from France, and actualy, "un "trou" nouveau défi" is a quite accurate translation, even with the play-on-word a "hole" new challenge. to be specific, "a whole new challenge" translated in french is : "un tout nouveau défi", so you got "trou" meaning "hole" taking place of 'tout" meaning "whole". nicely done.

I was hoping you'd take the 4x4x4 apart and see what the center mechanism looked like. I've taken my Rubik's Revenge apart many times, so I know what that looks like inside. I also once took apart a Rubik's Pocket cube. Never again! It was a royal pain in the ass to put it back together!

A video entirely on the explanation of parity on different cubes would be really interesting! Maybe you could start a series on the mathematics of Rubik's Cubes, like why edges and corners can only have an even number of swaps and flipped edges (unless parity but there would still be an even number of swaps in total) among other things.

Please do make a video on parity, I've heard about it on different occasions but never really know what it actually means, like when calculating how many combinations a 3x3 cube you need to divide the permutations by the parity, I watched a couple videos explaining it but they weren't that helpful :(
@super.heraut.officiel
@super.heraut.officiel Жыл бұрын
for the void cube, instead of a cross, i'd rather use one corner and fix the adjacent edges first, then finalize the first layer and the second at once, then no parity will occur at the last layer. (already tried this method on regular 3x3x3 with centers caps removed)

3:13 The French translation can make sense because "a new rubik's cube" in French is " un tout nouveau rubik's cube" and "hole" in French is "trou" and "new" "tout nouveau"(sometimes we don't need the "tout" because "tout nouveau" is for something that was just released.) And "trou" and "tout" are almost similar. Sorry for my bad English if it was bad.

In the first iteration (un trou nouveau défi), the word “trou”(french for hole) actually resembles the word “tout” (french for “whole”, or “all”). “Sacré”, however, litteraly means holy (so no word play). Holy is used in french as a hyperbolic adjective, so you could say they pulled it off.

I used to be suuuuuper into speed cubing, and I really have to admit that the Rubik's brand cubes were always among my absolute least favorite. Too sticky and not enough tolerance for the abuse of speed cubing, plus my 3x3 would always explode on me.

Don't speak French but English is my second language and I've watched a lot of tv with subtitles in my native language. Sometimes puns work, sometimes they don't. Like the other day, I watched Locke & Key and there was a cheese hat that I think was from Wisconsin. The character who got it as a gift said "cheesy" but in my language they translated it to like "fun cheese" which didn't make a lot of sense. Strange thing is that we've borrowed so many words from English, or made them our own so we do have a word for cheesy, it's just not in the dictionary (yet)

I came across one of the original Rubik's 4x4's when cleaning out my parents old house. Belonged to my Grandma. I'm not the fastest (probably 2:00 - 2:30 on 4x4) but it must have been over 5 mins on that. Partly because I didn't realise until part way though that it wasn't the usual colour alignment (red was opposite white) which completely threw me, and also I had both parity cases, but because of the turning quality I got stuck part way though and of course, forgot where I was in the algorithm by the time I'd got it moving again. Nice to see the new one's "faster" at least.

The pun does work in French. "Un tout nouveau défi" means "a whole new challenge" and trou means hole, so "un trou nouveau dèfi" is "A hole new challenge". Trou and tout are pronounced quite similarly, tout is pronounced like 'too' and trou is like 'troo'. All in all, the pun works in French.

I haven't had or used a Rubik's Cube in years, and since the almighty algorithm decided that for some reason I'd love to watch people speed solve cubes, I've become interested in trying to solve one again. I started looking at GAN cubes since that seems to be the popular brand, but man those prices. So my friends were like "Why spend that much on a cube when you go to Walmart and just grab a Rubik's Cube it's the same thing. I thought about it because I mainly just want a cube to solve when I get bored at work, but this video singlehandedly made me think that $30 for a GAN 356 Lite wasn't so bad after all. I also picked up that tiny 1cm cube because I wanted something pocket-sized and didn't find the GAN 330 keychain cube until after it was too late to cancel my order of the 1cm. The 330 is closer to what I wanted size wise so I guess the 1cm will be my novelty buy, the 330 for travel, and the 356 Lite for normal everyday.
