Flew in Dash 7s in Isreal and they felt solid, safe and enjoyable.

I was the Captain on this flight. We were flying the plane back home to North Bay from Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan. Long flight but a lot of fun. As it turns out, this is actually the last flight I ever did in a Dash 7. I started training on the CRJ-200 4 days later.

Troy Baxter When starting the number 2 engine the number 1 prop began to spin also when starting 3 it had an effect on the number 4 prop, why is this?
@Hornet1355 жыл бұрын
jsamoas the engines on the dash 7 and dash 8 are free turbines, and windmill freely when shutdown. You can easily spin the propeller by hand. The propwash created by feathered propellers at idle is quite strong, stronger than one would think. In my experience with the dash 8, small gusts and turbulence can be felt on the opposite side of the aircraft from the idling engine.

@@jsamoas.. Videos typically have a frame rate of ~25 frames per second. The 'movie' you see is a result of these snapshots. If you assume the propellers were moving at 9k RPM, that is 150 revolutions per second. If the camera recorded at 150 FPS, the propellers would appear stationary as they would be in the same position at each time a new frame was captured. The relationship between these two speeds that causes the effect you are describing; given a camera with a near infinite shutter speed this would not happen - except for the fact human perception is also limited by a similar frame rate (that's why films look fluid at only 25 FPS)…..credit for this answer is from Physics.stackexchange.com October 17, 2014. Why did you start the engines in sequence 2134? I currently work on Dash 7s and we always start 3421 because the #3 engines is closer to the external power hook up. And it seems like your aircraft leaks as much oil as ours do!

I have flown on this aircraft several times when it was based out of Vancouver BC.. We used it for flying guests and fish from the Queen Charlottes.

Awesome catch! If you check out their website, they have a photo of the cabin of the Dash 7, which looks just as comfortable as the cabin in a Dash 8.

CJets Planespotting Merci beaucoup! C'était la première fois que je voyais un Dash 7, c'est un appareil très rare... Ici aussi on voit régulièrement des Dash 8, d'Air Creebec, Air Inuit, Jazz, etc. Mais jamais autant qu'à YYC j'imagine! ;-)

As much as I like the modern Q400, I can't help but wonder how much longer the classic Dash-7's are gonna be around. They were mighty nice birds at their time of reign, and just about as versatile as a C-130 when it came to carrying cargo, parachute jumpers, or even passengers for that matter.

This one is used for NATO operations since few years. It seems to be a real workhorse! Thanks!

Awesome! I'm hoping to work on this and the dash 8 in the near future hopefully. Not really interested in the heavy lift a/c jsut these smaller workhorses do it for me! Awesome video! Currently taking my maint course right now.

It's a very rare aircraft indeed! It's one of 47 out of 113 built still flying (source : Wikipedia). Thanks for the comment :)
