Uncommon Love, a heartwarming biography written by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, recounts the early years of Sudha and Narayan Murthy’s courtship, their marriage and parenthood, and the founding years of Infosys. The narrative gives us personal insights into the struggles and ideals of the Murthys before they became the icons of business success and philanthropy. Together with Priyanka Khanna at the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Series Jaipur Literature Festival 2024, they explore the interwoven fabric of business and family and the values that have held them together.
Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is an award-winning writer, activist, professor of Creative Writing at University of Houston, and the author of 21 books such as Mistress of Spices, Sister of My Heart, Palace of Illusions, The Forest of Enchantments, and The Last Queen. Her newest novel, Independence, depicts the lives of three sisters during India’s freedom struggle.
Sudha Murty was born in 1950 in Shiggaon in north Karnataka. She did her MTech in computer science, and is now the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation. A prolific writer in English and Kannada, she has written novels, technical books, travelogues, collections of short stories and non-fictional pieces, and four books for children. Her books have been translated into all the major Indian languages. Murthy was the recipient of the R.K. Narayan Award for Literature and the Padma Shri in 2006, and the Attimabbe Award from the government of Karnataka for excellence in Kannada literature in 2011.
Priyanka Khanna is an author, as well as an art, design and fashion writer and speaker. After working at Hearst Magazines in New York, Khanna joined Vogue India, where she spent 15 years as the Fashion Features Director, overseeing fashion related content across digital and print. She is a contributing editor at The World of Interiors and an advisor at the non profit ‘Share A Book India.’ Khanna's first novel is All The Right People.
