Before large machines and refrigerators, graves where dug by hand. They used stone buildings like the one with the bars to store bodies till it was warm enough to dig.
@Queenie_783 жыл бұрын
They still keep bodies in those buildings until spring, for those who die in the winter.

Speaking of digging graves by hand, when my daughter was in elementary school her assignment was to share a story about an interesting ancestor. Her great grandfather was a gravedigger. His last name happened to be Bonar. When my daughter told the story in class a kid literally fell out of his seat laughing.

WOW...can't believe you have never seen owls before Jay I live in Northern California I have seen a flock of spoted owls in a small tree my friend and I were camping next to back in the 90's and recently had a pair of grate horned owls nest in a large redwood tree in our neighborhood we actually got to see the babies leave the nest one night. The only problems with owls living in your neighborhood are that they can be very noisy at night. My sister used to live in a converted barn, which had a barn owl living in it. It used to roost on her car sometimes and scratched the hell out of the roof of her car.

The stone structure in the cemetery might have been used to hold bodies until burial or just to hold trees. The concrete formations might have been coal or water towers, especially if the road was laid down over the route of former train tracks.
@OtherGuy013 жыл бұрын
A lot of older cemeteries here in Colorado have cold storage areas. If someone would die in the winter when the ground was frozen, they would store the body in these buildings until the ground thawed out and was able to get dug up. That's what these first small stone buildings might have been for.

This was a Care Takers House turned office from. Many years ago. During the Day the Care Taker would go home an it was used for an Office as the would check the plots an recheck for broken headstones or vandalism. The 1st place was for like bigger equipment an the 3 looking plots look like they could have parked Back holes or Tractors. Im sure the bigger place that housed the hand tools was pretty much just that. Now all this is just my oppion only as I've grown up around Older Cemetery's that had Care takers places an such. Also if you see what is referred to as Field Stones outside the main area depending on how old the place is could be Slave Graves.
