JR East Train Simulator - First look - Episode 1

JR East has released their simulator game to Steam Early Access.
In this episode, Matt is taking the first look into the game mechanics and struggles a lot to drive the Keihin-Tohoku line E233-1000 train whilst talking about his experiences in Japan.
Note: JR East Train Simulator is in early access and has limited functionality and graphics.

How do you know what speed you are supposed to go?

When I was recording, I did not know the actual speed limits on that track. So I only estimated the speeds based on my prior experience aboard the Keihin-Tohoku line trains, which went up to about 65 km/h. Now, after checking a Wikipedia article about the signs used by JR East, I can see that the track speed limit is 85 km/h in most areas. The article on Wikipedia is very long yet informative. I recommend anyone interested to give it a read. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_railway_signals In conclusion, the speed limit signs are white with black numbers (bigger than mileposts), and in some cases, they also use speed indicator lights.
