JR Yamanote - Tokyo - 山手線 - 4K Ultra HD

We believe that Tokyo’s iconic Yamanote line does not need any any introduction. Still, if you are not familiar with it, let’s just say that the Yamanote is one of Tokyo's most important train lines, circling the city and featuring 29 stations for a total length of 34.5km. First opened in 1885, the Yamanote started humbly and slowly, but surely, added stations to reach its current number.
While this video may not be the most exciting we’ve ever made, it will give you the chance to experience what a full loop on the Yamanote line feels like. So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!

That is because the uploader was riding the new E235 series train, which was quite rare at the time (until 2016, only one E235 set was working in the Yamanote Line while all the other 51 sets were old E231 series.)

Everytime I listen to these ASMR of Tokyo, I get filled with so much emotion. Emotion of missing Japan immensely. The Tokyo subway is my favorite in the world. Sure, I avoid rush hour at all cost, like I would in any big city. Otherwise, it's my favorite. I remember when I went to Tokyo and Osaka for the first time, I took a day to ride many of the subway lines back and forth. Just to listen to the jingles at every station and get lost in a random neighborhood. Man, I truly miss Japan. I have to make it there by 2021.

I believe I correctly state that Tokyo is the world's largest metropolis. This video and the countless other videos like it have made us greatly impressed by Tokyo's mass transit system. It is amazing to think that lines like the Yamanote date back to the 1800s. Today's modern trains and stations are clean. The PA announcements are so pleasant. It's like a ride at Disneyland! Greetings from Malaysia ! I've been at Tokyo since March 2016. As one of the foreign train fans , I must say , it is fabulous to see one of the busiest train line ever in Tokyo city , nevertheless , precision and time accuracy for the train operator , no matter from JR , Keisei Electric or even until Shinkansen , absolutely amazing. Thanks for writing back. I suppose I mean exactly what you did in this video - basically travelling through an area of Japan, by car, or by train, etc., and then after a brief introduction, you let the scenery and environment speak for themselves. It's very interesting experience parts of Japan through actual travel. I've seen some night rides through cities before, but perhaps not at the level of professionalism with which you make your videos. (P.S. I believe you've done a few walkabouts as well of areas of Tokyo - which are also fantastic!)

The Yamanote Line in Tokyo is important because many visitors (and even residents of Tokyo) use this line as a reference point to avoid getting lost. Please note that the Shibuya Station area will substantially change over the next ten years. By 2020 (the time of the Tokyo Olympics), the platform for the Yamanote Line trains at Shibuya will be quite different due to the massive rebuilding going on at the station (that's why Tokyu Corporation phased out their above-street station was the terminus for Tokyu's Toyoko and Den-en-Toshi Lines in favor of a direct connection with the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line).

I‘m just here to compare it to Densha De Go and it‘s amazing how similar it is. It's kinda funny how different the drivers view is though. I rode the Yamanote Line very often (I mean also in real life, not just Densha de Go), but it somehow looks completely different from the drivers view

One of my favorite nights in my history, around midnite i hopped over that gate at 2:08 and took a stroll down the tracks to that little tunnel at 2:30, cracked open a kirin malt and sat and drank while watching the late night freight trains and sleeper trains race by. I was sweating bullets but it was so worth it. Im a railfan who likes to get up close and walk the tracks and explore yards in the US, however tokyo is pretty strict so its lucky i wasnt caught. Tokyo is a railfans paradise i would ride the trains all day.

Hi! Thanks for the compliment and for watching! I would agree with you when it comes to place Tokyo City Transportation among the top ones on the planet, BUT! Hong Kong MTR for example is for me one step ahead of Tokyo's one and this for many reasons, including the Octotpus Card (Equivalent to Pasmo and Suica) but which has been used a good 5 years before Japan and which is still as far as I know better than both the Japanese version and finally, Hong Kong MTR is cheaper that its Japanese equivalent. I also remember than back in 2000s when I was living in HK, I could use my phone underground while this is just quite recent in Tokyo (a few years back)

There is a simplier way to add time positions in comments and the video description: Write the time position itself, and KZbin will convert it to an actual link. This also has the advantage that you do not need to reload the whole page, because the video directly jumps to the time position ;) So your list would look like this: Shibuya Station - 渋谷 : 00:11 Harajuku Station - 原宿 : 02:30 Yoyogi Station - 代々木 : 04:53 Shinjuku Station - 新宿 : 06:38 and so on
