JRB Cinch Systems, Advancing, Retrieval and Length

The JRB Cinch can be advanced manually or with the use of the Maverick Pole. It can be retrieved in a number of unique scenarios which depend on the characteristics of the tree. The ideal length of JRB Cinch systems is driven by the height of the tie-in-point and the worst case retrieval scenario. John, I’ve become pretty proficient and comfortable at tying the Maverick hitch and have been using it for my hitch climbing and srt when I’m not able to dsrt…other than the speed/simplicity of the JRB cinch, what are the other pros and cons of using the cinch over tying the Maverick hitch and are you transitioning from the Maverick hitch to the cinch for your hitch climbing (or maybe just going back to the JRB cinch). Thanks for all you do, I’ve learned more about tying knots and climbing safely from you than every other resource out there combined.

@seabeebillm no problem. By the way, now that I am USING the JRB Cinch in more climbing applications, I realize there are additional dimensions to consider. When I update the page (soon), I will capture the fact that JRB Cinch is easier than the Maverick when it comes to dealing with branches on the trunk. Simply put, the extra weight on the end of the rope allows it great stability when we are using the pole to drop the end over a branch and then pulling it back to us to set. Stay tuned
