@Shutbyotch AM’s story is interesting (not everybody can say they survived a plane crash) but nowhere near Travis’ experience. AM spent like a week in the hospital whereas Travis was in the burn ward for 6 long ass fuckin weeks (with pain killers having minimal effect) and he was offering his friends a million dollars to come kill him Plus Travis had the irrational fear of flying and the premonition that he would for sure die in a plane crash, plus his daughter BEGGED him not to go on that flight, plus he asked his best friend to go and thus feels immense survivors guilt over his death. Pity AM had to relapse and the fact that it was documented on a reality show about helping people get clean is beyond cruelly ironic, but Travis lived an actual nightmare.

My son was lit on fire when was in junior high. Burnt from chest down to his knees. Travis’ description made me think of how my son (28 now) describes the whole experience and the recovery. He has graphs off his back too. The day all that happened will be etched in my mind forever. He doesn’t like to talk about it. There’s such a victim mentality in the world today, he doesn’t want to contribute to it, but when I hear someone else who’s been through it, there’s so many similarities. It brings back a lot of feelings for me, just as a parent.

@@maxmillman9477 yes. Sprayed him with lighter fluid and threw a match at him. It happened very quickly, but a incredibly violent assault. Had a baseball uniform on that burned really well. It was awful. Transferred to a burn unit for several weeks. He was really young, maybe 6th. Grade.

@@dougbrown7413 Gosh, that's awful. I had a guy kick my patella out of its socket from behind when I was 15, so I can relate in my own way. The memory is hard to shake when it's unprovoked and happens so suddenly. My College (or High School) was a pretty violent place. 6th Grade? That is very young for such a violent attack. Was the attacker another 6th grader? Hard to imagine a 12 year old doing that to someone. Horrendous!

@@dougbrown7413 omg!! Are you kidding me? That’s horrible… I’m a mother of 3 boys so I can relate to your last sentence, of bringing feelings back as a parent… I cannot relate to your specific situation though and hope I never have to, because that is just God awful and I am so sorry that happened to your son I couldn’t even begin to imagine something like that, and what’s more I can’t believe that this wasn’t an accident that someone deliberately did this to a 12 year old child!!! I like the way your son thinks though, although it’s good to talk about things that may have caused some trauma to a friend or family etc. it’s just good to have someone you can open up to instead of hold it all in, but that being said we do live in a different world now, everyone is a victim and it’s really so ridiculous now a days, half the people who are a “victim of something” are really so full of themselves and many have no grasp on reality now a days. None of them care to realize that we ALL go through shit they really want to sit back and complain about things that have or haven’t happened all day long.. Your son and I are the same age btw. God Bless :)

This was spoon hard for me to watch. My husband caught on fire when we were kids. The scrapping, the body suits, the time in bed, relearning how to walk. I now rub his scars all the time. Remembering the graphs . My whole life I have looked at fire as a monster that is always coming. The funny thing is that he is not bothered by fire at all. If we watch a movie and someone is in flames I just stare at my husband. Every time I say "Doesn't that freak you out"? Knowing that he know absolutely what that terror feels like and ever time he says "Naw". Meanwhile I am fighting tears.

The plane crashed here near me in Columbia, I’ve never seen anything so heartbreaking then live local news and the dash cam video from the police. The plane was a blaze on an embankment between the airport and I-26 and there’s chaos and screaming absolutely heartbreaking... A miracle how Travis was buckled up and awake, he was able to get Adam before he jumped down into the fuel, it was extremely dark and the plane was ripped in half. Travis is the most interesting and inspiring man....

If Travis is saying it's the worst pain he's experienced and he was treated here in the US, imagine being treated in one of the poorest countries in the world. The staff cleaned the wounds with a mixture of vinegar and chlorine.

Damn man. This guys have passed for so much pain. I remember back in the early 2000's when Blink 182 came to Mexico he did the gig with a cast in a leg. Later this accident burned a Lot to the point that he almost lose one foot, later on tour he managed to play with one arm only to later have a severe car crash and injure his arms again. This dude is a survivor, respect.

My father was burned a little over 70% of his body with 56% 3rd degree burns and he had some tattoos on his arms that didn’t get burned because he had lineman gloves on that went to his elbows. Anyway he had tattoos on his arms from the navy and that is where the Dr got skin to graft from and when it was done my dad had little pieces of tattoos on different parts of his body. The Dr said he had a little fun placing the skin on his body. My father lived 12 more years after the accident he spent 8 months in the hospital and had 17 major surgeries during the 12 years he lived.

I have had third degree burns and they only hurt for a hot minute because the pain immediately stopped as soon as the nerves burned away. And that's when the real danger starts because I didn't think I was burned that bad because I wasn't in pain, so I didn't go the hospital right away. BIG MISTAKE as infection immediately set in, and then when the nerves started growing back the pain was excruciating. The worst memory of my life now is being burned and the long healing process afterwards that takes literally YEARS.

Through all he has been through he is greatful for what he has and all that pain he endured. He is so genuine looking it makes him look even more handsome. He doesnt have an snobby air about him either and seems to be just a nice person down to earth. Its such a miracle he is here to tell his story and he seems to be happy with what he was born with and not getting all that fake stuff on himself to fit in like other people. I don’t think he’s ever been known as the blink drummer though. Obviously after his departure from the aquabats and he joined blink he wasn’t long playing drums in the transplants, boxcar racer and then all his other collab stuff with rappers etc. He has the most impressive CV out of him, Tom Delonge and Mark Hoppus which is ironic considering blink is what made travis famous
