he wasn't accused by the liberal media or liberals, lets remember he was accused and brought forward BY OTHER NAVY SEALS and please stop sounding as if Eddie is suddenly in a bad place. dude has made TONS of money off his whole thing. and 19 years...we are to assume that the one time they took a picture is the one time he acted like this. out of nowhere, he decided to become the guy that does this sort of thing when he never had before AND a camera just happened to be there. aren't we lucky? c'mon.

Cole’s book lack credibility and was rejected by NBC when he worked for NBC because he had no source of record. Here is the history straight from Cole: “Cole’s superiors told him the story wasn’t ready to air in part because he didn’t have a source on the record, Cole said.” I read the book because, if true, it would be troubling. But as I read the book, it was apparent there are, by my count, at best, 2 unnamed sources for the entire book of claims. And the book is not written as a factual expose but as an opinion piece. I find this kind of book and the people who wrote them particularly evil. One cannot morally or logically throw the entire SEAL program and the sacrifices of its members into a cesspool on the untested allegation of 2 unidentified sources. It is morally outrageous and we know now that the Intercept, where Cole moved when NBC rejected his claims, to be a propagandist’s paradise.

Have you read Code Over Country? There’s a TON of sources cited in that book. Do you think all of these people are lying? Not to mention a lot of the stuff Cole writes about is public information like the Robert’s Ridge incident with Chapman and Slabinksi. Go listen to the Anti-hero podcast and see what they have to say about people like Rob O’Neil and Marcus Lutrell, and that’s done be an ex Delta guy not some NYT’s reporter. The SEAL teams have a massive accountability issue, and they are far more worried about protecting the SEAL “brand” than telling the truth.

Wow, that's crazy. I listen to him on a podcast, and you know he's got all these stories about how some got bullied or hazed, and then he talks about guys carrying hatches. But he doesn't even say someone killed an innocent man with a hatch just that it symbol of pride and some seals talked about using it. Which on its face is dumb you don't bring a knife to a gun fight. Also I'm sure people got hazed its part of the culture of mens clubs around the world. Now it shouldnt happen but that's far cry from war crimes. But one part I couldn't believe he talked about how he heard a story that if the seal caught the Isis guy who beheaded a journalist who this seal knew. That this seal would cut his head off. Wow someone said he wished harm to someone that killed his friend. Also hearing him justify why just the seal teams why not the us military at large. And his basic answer is vague and makes little since especially given the 3 or so years it took him to write it. Obviously he some sort of distain for the seals and the military at large. Maybe he disagreed with the war on terror and places the blame on the war fighter instead of the political. Im not sure exactly but i don't buy oh well I heard some rumors and the navy seals killed bin laden and so I decided to spend three years of my life writing about 2nd or 3rd hand stories. No doubt the military has problems rapes and drug abuse to name a few but war crimes isn't one them. They happen but its rare he even admits that most war crimes arent happening by infantry forces because the unit is to large for word not to get out immediately. So he assumes that cause seal teams are smaller that they are probably committing one or two ever night. So its not the 18 year old kid just barely passed basic in some hell hole whose friend died in ied who watches American sniper on a loop everyday committing a war crime. Its the most highly trained and scrutinized military unit. Idk about that I guess anything is possible. Also watching him calling killing of Osama bin laden a war crime. Made me sick. If America is so evil and Al Qaeda isnt really that bad. Then go live in Afghanistan. I really do just want to assume good intentions on everyone but this guy reasoning doesn't add up and then to say that about the Osama rsid. That is one of the most successful mission in a decade and been scrutinized to death down which member bullet killed Biden but unannounced to everyone only Matthew Cole discovered the truth that it was a war crime. Truly incredible

There are two valid sides to this story that often get railroaded by the political theater surrounding it. One valid side, is that it was crazy to attempt to deny the man the benefits he earned through 19 years of hell on earth service to his country because of a single incident. That should've never been on the table. Don't take away what's already earned. On the other side of things, Eddie Gallagher himself does not deny and has openly admitted since all of this happened, that they were not "rendering medical aid" to the detained teenager. They determined that since he was in the early phase of a slow death, they would literally practice medical procedures on him until he died. So in his waning moments, they more or less tortured him to death based on the assumption he was going to die anyways. They were not trained to do this. Don't make excuses. They were not trained by the U.S. Military to do this, in that example of a situation. Ending his career for it? Yes, valid. Denying him what he earned up to that point in his career? No, that was an attempt at injustice as well which fortunately failed.
@OnceUponReddit
@OnceUponReddit Жыл бұрын
That's not true. One gallagher was a trained medic. They also did a cricothyrotomy, which then came out as saying it wasn't needed because he was going to die. But when they did it, they didn't just do it for fun.
@StateOfChaos
@StateOfChaos Жыл бұрын
@@OnceUponReddit I didn't say they did anything for fun. But Gallagher, in his own words, said the what they performed was entirely for their own training benefit and not any actual attempt to save the kids life. And to be fair, they were probably correct in their initial original assessment that he was in fact beyond hope. Someone having a mortal wound doesn't make it ok. Not when its your mother or when its a combatant. Let them die or end it quicker, those are your options.

I guess you’ve never heard the old adage; one fuck up wipes out a lifetime of “that a boys”. That’s like saying you were a good cop for 19 years and then you F up and break the law and you get a pass because of the 19 good years…life doesn’t work like that. I don’t know what happened with Gallagher, I wasn’t there and none of the people writing these stories were there either. I’ve always been of the opinion that there’s three sides to every story…your side…my side…the truth.
