Have owned over 30 cars, usually 3 at a time, I move them on regularly but my 04XT 5 Spd is the only thing I have kept over the years because I love the thing. It’s my toy, my other cars are just modes of transport.

I have a 2006 "Facelift" SG9 XT, it has had some mods: STI intercooler/Y-pipe, cold air filter, WRX Pro front calipers, Pedders "Sports Ryder" coilovers, taller hood scoop (off a "bugeye" Impreza) exhaust had been de-catted but I had a custom made cat fitted (centre) to make it road legal here in UK and it has a Prodrive backbox/tailpipe. My one is slightly scruffy, but it's my daily ride and I use it for my part time gardening job, so some of the time it has a lawnmower in the back :-) Such fun to drive esp with the "whooosh-sh-sh-sh" from the re-circulating valve system. Mine is auto too, but I drive it in "sports shift" mode. Thumbs up.

Importing a fresh 2005 Forester To Canada. I definitely would not consider a Forester as fast as an STi. My stock 04 jdm STi will do circles around any Forester.. ej207 in the JDM STis are a weapon.

I have a 2004 FXT... I really understand what you meant by the speakers in this car, they sound wonderful... HOWEVER... I've noticed that the stock headunit volume goes from 0 to 30... anything higher than 12-15... doesnt increase the volume at all in my car, just extremely distorts it. does this happen in yours?

yes and no, Subarus are generally high maintenance and expensive. really be careful when buying one used because they can be a hit or miss
@EthanWood7574 жыл бұрын
If you can save money to set aside for possible hefty repairs or are mechanically inclined yes. When buying them if they are 100k miles and up make sure the owner has paperwork for timing belt and water pump done as well as make sure the owner maintained the vehicle properly. When left close to stock or stock they are very reliable. I have a 2004 forester (same body as the years you described) with 260k miles. It’s been very reliable. The only issue I’ve had is from rust on a coolant line from this car being a northern car. Other than that I put 20k miles on it in a year with no hiccups and I’ve done some hooning around some wet fields and trails with it and it loved it.
@EthanWood7574 жыл бұрын
I’ll also add if the head gaskets have been done your golden. If not make sure you have some money saved up to have them done. Another option is to find an importer near you where you can get motors at a decent price. The non turbo model engines are fairly cheap ~800-100 in Virginia where I live. I would also recommend you get one with a manual as they are more reliable the. The automatics in them. Learn how to do your own maintenance and treat her right and she’ll last.
