As for why that Magnemite sometimes used thunderbolt over wave, the good ai in gen 2 actually test rolls their move and if their test results in a ko, they will always use that move. Magnemite might be programmed to always set up paralysis, but if it sees a chance to kill, it will go for it. Since bolt did a bit more than half, I guess the times when she went for bolt, her test rolls were critical hits.

i think the explanation is a lot easier than that, Magnemite went for Thunderbolt after hitting itself with confusion turn 1, and the AI in gen 2 and 3 is only program to heavily favor Status condition the first turn that pokemon is on the field, if the opponent doesn't have an status condition.
@davidgardner66772 жыл бұрын

That Steelix is just so bloody tough unless you have a fire or fighting type. If you need a nickname for Rival 5 in this game, I'm going to suggest Rival-Final. I think that Zubat actually did surprisingly well, considering the gen 1 run. yes, it had to get to level 100 to beat Red, but against the elite 4 and the champion you didn't need to rely on self-damaging moves, and zubat itself was contributing more since you couldn't use mimic. It managed to beat the a tougher set of elite 4 without have to level up too much more. Current Gen 2 rankings: 1) Shuckle 2) Zubat 3) Wobbuffet

Pick up your cross and follow Jesus! The world is quickly headed for destruction, and sooner or later you will have to sit at the judgement seat and give an account for your actions. Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life! - Revelation 3:20. Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God tho. Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc and you should get a response. Have a blessed day!

I literally just finished this challenge 2 days ago and I didn't even know that the forretress had explosion, I didn't save in between E4 members and versed koga a couple of times and I never once saw explosion. I found it funny how you beat jasmine as it was literally exactly what I did just getting a bunch of flinches, It was cool to see the different strategies you used, however I did use items in battle so it is definitely not as difficult as your run. Kanto as always was a push over and I had extremely good luck against Red beating him on about my 3rd try as I managed to set up 6 double teams while Pikachu kept missing with thunder's terrible accuracy and I also had great confusion luck as I kept confuse ray the whole way through (I know its a really scummy strategy, but its zubat 😂😂) and the rest of his team couldn't touch me. Thanks for the videos and I'm happy you're making more gen 2 challenges💯💯

You're sleeping on bite here Jrose. Bite is the highest damaging move you have against onix and steelix without manipulating your DVs to give yourself HP ground. Plus 30% flinch? It's really good
@I_like_pi_2 жыл бұрын
Actually, steel resists dark in Gen 2 (until Gen 6), so wing attack with STAB is better against steelix, ignoring the flinch chance. He was definitely sleeping on bite against ghost types, though, when fighting Morty and sometimes the rival.
@austinmaiden46632 жыл бұрын
@@I_like_pi_ not when you factor Steelix's base 200 defence vs 65 special defence. Or onix's 160 vs 45. Sure the effective base power is higher for wing attack, but it's still physical damage vs special damage. And since zubats special attack is only 15 points lower than his physical, the total damage output to them is much higher. Even after factoring in the type and stat boosts from gym badges
@I_like_pi_2 жыл бұрын
@@austinmaiden4663 I totally did not take that into consideration because I was thinking of dark type as physical when it's actually special. I stand corrected.

13:36 You said you had to use Wing Attack on Morty. Clearly your Gen 1 is showing. Bite became Dark-type in Gen 2 and would be super-effective. (That's why it's a special, not physical move.)
@blatantism2 жыл бұрын
Happy someone else noticed. Thought I was losing my mind for a second.
@OmegaTyrant2 жыл бұрын
He said that because Wing Attack was going to do more damage than Bite, with Zubat's higher Attack and the ghosts having lower Defense, especially after the Zephyr Badge boost made his flying moves permanently 12.5% stronger.
@ShadowOfCicero2 жыл бұрын
@@OmegaTyrant At that exact moment, he said it's the only one that would affect them. After posting, I ran some rough numbers and suspected Wing Attack was still better. I forgot about the Zephyr Badge, and he may have also had Sharp Beak. If Wing Attack is not an OHKO, the flinch chance of Bite still might be worth it though.

i think this run might be impossible in hg/ss, i imagine that stat xp letting you max out zubat's bulk helped out a lot, and the only advantage you get in hgss is physical bite and a few new moves i guess.
@OmegaTyrant2 жыл бұрын
Also the trainers get better movesets, better AI, and all the Kanto trainers are higher levelled, while Gen 4 also removed the badge boosts. Zubat does get quite a few better moves (including Brave Bird with egg moves), but it'll probably end up like Spinarak where Red is too strong to beat without TAS luck.
@divemissile89282 жыл бұрын
@@OmegaTyrant i forgot about the badge boosts, those are huge too. the egg moves might not even end up bring an option depending on how the zubat is obtained, jrose always just uses cheat codes to make the mon one of the starter options for example. so it might just end up being way harder with little upside, though it's be fun to watch be tried at least

Confuse Ray, Double Team, Air Slash, Return (or with Hypnosis). I'm saying it will be possible.
@OmegaTyrant2 жыл бұрын
@@Dark_Dusknoir You should see the Spinarak video, if you don't got the stats even trying to cheese with Double Team, Swagger, Attract, etc. ain't gonna work without TAS luck.

Why didn't you use Bite against Morty? It has the same base power as wing attack, but it's super effective against ghost. STAB is 1.5x damage, super effective is 2x, so it should have onehsot the Gengar, no? Or am I missing something obvious?
@RealCryptoTest2 жыл бұрын
Dark is special prior to Gen 4 so it would be using an attacking stat that's far less high on Zubat
@Grim7122 жыл бұрын
He may be used to Bite being Normal type like it is in R/B/Y and didn't even consider it?
@Lambeaux02 жыл бұрын
It probably would've been pretty similar due to Zubats lower special attack and the higher special defence of Gengar. But yeah. May have forgotten Bite was dark after doing so many Gen 1 runs haha.
@bencekicska2232 жыл бұрын
@@Lambeaux0 yeah, since then i put in a crystal damage calculator, it does more damage, but only a little bit more, don't think it would have oneshotted the gengar.
