ShadowEliteHD The JRPG GAWD I just finished Bersieria the combat, characters, side quests, skill system and story are better than Zestria but it has a less interesting over world and the doungons took a step back in design but overall it is a fun title and is a stronger Tales game despite an ending that in my mind is begging for resolution and it also raises alot of questions about it and Zestriria's world I would like answered but know Bersieria is probably the last game that is going to take place in it's world

Charicter wise some of the best include Tales of Symphona, the Abyss, Vespira, Xilla 1 and 2, Hearts surprisingly has a good cast, and Beseria but some others are just repates of more popular charicters in the franchise others are unique interesting charicters but I will say that the cast I like the least out the franchise's 3D entries is Symphona just because they are a bit basic compared to later charicters not to say their bad just simple now if only we can get a remake of the Destiny games and a localization of Innocence R as I hear those have some of the best charicters in the franchise

+C Ziggy I'm inclined to agree. Beat that demo twice in a row, with the second one being on hard. The counter/parry system feels amazing, and that boss design/ music had my heart pounding. I'm super pumped for a Yoko Taro game that doesn't have monopoly money for a budget. I can't imagine what the rest of the game will be like. Action/Schmup is the cure for a fever I didn't know I had.

you can do the same thing in tales games and set up the A.I. to use certain skills, use an item when HP or TP is at a certain percentage, the "gambit system" is just a fancy name for A.I. party controls but they give you it in pieces of certain commands over the course of FF12's game that's the only difference lol

Jon Idoncair You obviously never mastered the gambit system then. At it's peak I could grind massively with only having to move the characters around while they flawlessly destroyed all mobs around. The only time I needed to actually give commands was bosses. The negative part was it got boring because my setup was perfect. lol

oh? really now, mean to tell me putting all characters on Auto to kill enemy fodder without flitting a finger but the A.I. is that good, again.......you can do that in tales games setting entire party to auto as well getting the same result problem with FF12 like you said the A.I. setup is so good the game can literally play itself besides certain bosses of course........but that's just it why the hell would you wanna have a game be played for you? seems lazy and kills the whole point of playing a game in the first place

***** Using auto isn't the same. On 12 my gambit program reacted to enemies using mirror and even my mages would melee those mobs. The gambit system ends up being more refined. But in the end both systems result in brain dead grinding. I guess that is the nice part about FF15's support npcs being weaker as they can't auto kill for you. Tales auto is more like auto nuke and healing. Though less refined they technically accomplish the same thing. It would be awesome if a Tales game would have battles take place in real time versus seperate battle screens. I prefer something more like Xenoblade Chronicles.....not X. I like more engaging battles. I wish they would make another Front Mission like 4. I loved the link system.

Tales of Berseria Kingdom Hearts 2.8 I know Square likes to surprise us by throwing a curveball or two, but I wouldn't mind another side story, now before you start yelling at me saying Kingdom Hearts 3, let me explain. Look, I want Kingdom Hearts 3 just as much as everyone else, but I want Kingdom Hearts 3 to be good, and I'm willing to wait, and I want this side story to focus entirely on Kairi, because she's the only one who hasn't had any time in the spotlight and I think a side game focusing entirely on her is good, because she could finally get the attention she deserves and get her own cult following, but it'll be good for making another style for KH3 and establishing her position as one of the 7 guardians of light. I just want Kairi to be more fleshed out and involved, because she's one of my favorites and I seriously hope they don't leave her out again like they've been doing post KH2. Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 (Birthday) Nioh Persona 5 (Maybe, I'm interested, but still not sure if I should)

Of course P5 is going to be the game of the year. It was basically always going to be that for me, just depending on the year. Just have to wait. DQ8 is going to be fun to play through again. Honestly I'll be glad to get it. If only because it has become a pain to get the PS2 to look decent on my tv. One of my favorite games of all time. I love coming back to play through that again. Enjoyable story, memorable voice cast from a PS2 game, and good replay value for me. Ni No Kuni 2 will be fun. I did overall enjoy the original and will be glad to see what they do with this one. The setting and story looks solid. Maybe an honorable mention to Fate/Extella. I think that should be a fun one.

OMG I am soo getting the next Ni No Kuni game since Wrath of the White Witch is now one of my fav games. Hell, it helped me decide to give Pokemon a try lol because of the Familiars in it. I just hope they bring that part back, but if not it's fine. I did love all the Side quests though, but any good JRPG has side squests. I've only played one game series where there wasn't a side quest and that being Grandia. And I know this game isn't JRPG, but it still comes from Japan, but I can't wait for the English release of Danganronpa V3 on the PS4. It comes out in Japan next month and NIS America says it will take care of the English version of it. My friends who like Persona 4 really keep getting me to try that game or any others from the Series. I honestly never tried the first 3 games because I couldn't get over the fact that you had to use a gun to draw out your Persona.

Well, guess it's that time again. The time to annoy others with my inane opinions and decisions. - "Ni no Kuni 2" - I didn't care about the first one and I don't really care about this one so it's a skip for me. - "Nier: Automata" - I liked the first game, not to mention its parent series "Drakengard", so I'm definitely getting it. I'm just wondering if the story will live up to the first one or not. - "Valkyria Revolution" - I'm on the fence with this one. While I did enjoy the first "Valkyria Chronicles", I wasn't that big on it. Not that it matters too much considering how different this one is. - "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" - The last "KH" game I got was "KH2", though a friend did lend me "BBS" to play for a couple of days,...and I don't see that changing anytime soon. - "Nights of Azure 2" - I'm on the fence with this one. While I did enjoy the first game, it definitely had its problems. This one just doesn't look to be all that much of an improvement and seems to be repeating many of the exact same beats as that game did. Not to mention, while it isn't really the game's fault, I've really gotten annoyed this time around with the yuri fanatics going nuts over this game. - "NioH" - Skipping this one. I'm not a fan of the whole "Souls" style. - "Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 3rd" - Never really cared about the series so it's a skip for me. - "Mary Skelter" - I actually ended up eating crow because of this game. I really thought that IFI didn't have the guts to bring it over and I swore by that thought. Which is somewhat funny for me since NISA has yet to announce "Coven and Labyrinth of Refrain", a DRPG I"m really looking forward to, and was extremely sure that it would have been by now. So yeah, I'm getting it. Too bad people seem to only care about that stupid purification mechanic, not that I'm all that surprised anymore. Also, fuck Censored Gaming. - "FF12: Zodiac Age"" - While I liked it back when I played it on the PS2, I had my fill of it as well. I don't really have any plans on getting this remastering. - "Ys VIII" - I don't know if I'll get it immediately but I do plan on getting it eventually down the road. - "Tales of Berseria" - I'm rather looking forward to this one. I'm quite the fan of the "Tales of" series, played close to all of the internationally released ones, and I've heard some rather good things about this one. Quite a huge improvement over "Zestiria" apparently. Then again, that's not exactly saying much. - "Persona 5" - Don't care about it, skipping it. - "Atelier Firis" - I've more or less dropped off from this series. Haven't played any past "Meruru". - "The Witch & The Hundred Knight 2" - I am really looking forward to this game. I loved the first game and, while I don't think the story will be quite as good, it definitely looks to be an improvement overall. - "Digimon World: Next Order" - Skipping it. - "Summon Night 6" - I don't know if I'll get this one. "Akiba's Trip" I thought was a rather mediocre game and this game doesn't really look all that good to me either. Not to mention something about the animations and 2D portraits really look off to me. I might get it but, again, if it's for rather cheap and I'm in the mood for it for some reason. Geez, that's a lot of games. This is a much larger post than I thought it'd be. Can't wait for all the hate comments I'll get for having such an unorthodox taste in games, as far as Japanese RPGs go anyway. The only other games I can think of bringing up are: - "Demon Gaze 2" - While it hasn't been announced to be getting an international release, it was recently announced to be getting an Asian-English release. So regardless, I'll probably pick this up at some point. I did rather like the first "Demon Gaze", though I'm not exactly that big on the setting of this one. - "Coven and Labyrinth of Refrain" - I already mentioned above in the "Mary Skelter" section about how it hasn't gotten an announcement yet but I'm still sticking to my believes that this game will get announced by NISA eventually. Hopefully releasing sometime next year. - "Super Robot Taisen V" - It's getting an English-Asian release. It's the second "SRT" entry to be getting one, but it's the first of the main cross-over entries to be getting one. Fairly excited for this one.

Played Tales of Berseria in Japanese recently... The game was fantastic imo, way better than Zestiria. About the story, it was also more... interesting than I was expecting (and certainly was better than ToZ)... Would like to say more and point out some parts, but... Well, wait for it. Persona 5 and Digimon. Easy choices. Not impressed with Nioh. As a massive Souls fan, it's not just raw difficulty that makes a good game. The feel of the well crafted world that pulls you in, and the thrill of surpassing your enemies in battle are the rewards that make you wantt to link them flames. And man, Cybersleuth is still full price on psn? I'm sure I saw it for around $20-$30 new at Walmart.

i agree about tales of series. Abyss and Legendia had best story and characters. Vesperia and symphonia were "okay". After that, I think it just fell down from there. As for FFXII, I thought that Ashe was the main character since she got all the cutscenes. Oh the irony. I bought it thinking I could play as a pirate or something :(

Vaan is the main character because he is least significant to the plot, they were looking to give you a weaker protagonist than the archetypal hero and let the story and environment take center stage of the narrative

"are they worth getting into?" That is very hard to answer, even for a fan. Past some of the cringy dialogue, there is a repetitive game with a fun cast of characters that will make you laugh from time to time by breaking the fourth wall and making video game and anime references. Sometimes the satire is spot on and sometimes it misses completely. The characters are both a strong and a weak point. Since people like these characters so much, the series doesn't move on from them to a new cast, it just adds more to them, causing some burnout for returning fans as they see the same gags that made them laugh so much be beaten down to death. If I had to recommend one, I'd say play re;birth 1. My fondest memories of Neptunia and its cast are mostly from that game so you just might like it. It's not a series for everyone though so don't blame me if you end up thinking it's mediocre.

Berseria went above and beyond in the story and character department you should definitely play it. One of the best JRPGs I've played since Bravely Default. Obligatory, fuck Final Fantasy XV that unfinished garbage dude-bro road trip simulator that remembered suddenly in chapter 7 that it needs to wrap up.
