Thank's for your thoughts. My mind has been on this DLC and Lent's story since Ryza 2 was announced. I had I lot of fun with Ryza; and the only thing I wish for is in the sequel is to have certain aspects of the past Synthesis Mechanics from the older games: Such as Destruction Up+ and Destruction Up++ = Intense Blast.

Ryza was my first atelier game and I love it. I've seen a lot of people complain about its battle system (maybe 'cause they're atelier veterans, I don't know) but to me is one of the most fun systems in any jrpg I've ever played specially against bosses and sturdy enemies, those battles can get pretty intense. So my hopes for Ryza 2 include more long/challenging battles, even if they're optional, more variety in enemies since in Ryza 1 there are only like 8-10 different monsters but in different colors and I know a lot of rpgs do that but I still find it pretty lame tbh. Also if they can confirm the Ryza x Claudia ship, it would be awesome

if you're trying to maximize early, the most important thing I found was that right before the first dragon, in the area just before that, if you run right and keep swinging right, you end up in a room with an extra-large black knight enemy. it drops heroic spirits or something like that, which have almost every single penultimate-tier trait on them, like HP++ and ATK+DEF and such. also, behind him, the crystals give quality+ and quality++. he's going to be a super pain in the butt on legendary, but that's the earliest place you can grind out everything but the max-endgame traits. i didn't find an earlier trait-grinding location than that, but if you find one, i'd like to hear about it! if it helps, i made a recipe-finder app that can tell you how to get traits from one type of thing to another, including restricting things by chapter: eruciform.com/games/atelier-ryza/atelier-ryza-recipe-finder/ -- in fact, trying to max stuff out before the first dragon is what inspired making this app, because it's frankly a pain in the butt, there's just not enough convenience recipes yet (for example it is literally impossible to get a trait off a (jewel) onto anything else at this point), so the chains to get things from one place to another are long and annoying. however, at least on hard mode (not legendary) i made items right before the first dragon that i didn't need to upgrade all the way thru the endboss of the game.

This is fantastic, thank you so much! Legendary seems like something that definitely can just be done on stats alone, so I’ll have to have a look next time I play and see what my options are with items :) appreciate it!!
@seanbcusack
@seanbcusack 4 жыл бұрын
i wonder what the power curve really looks like. i can say for sure that the item stats i had by maxing out just before the first dragon were just *barely* enough to beat the game on hard without respeccing anything. i wonder how far that same equipment (all quality 200-400 with maxed penultimate traits and *no* armor recipe spelunking with tossing a hundred ingots at the end) would go on legendary. it was enough to one-shot the first dragon on hard, and two-shot the second dragon on hard. i wonder if on legendary whether it would still be easy, impossible, or somewhere inbetween, and for how long. it would definitely not be enough to beat the game, since i just barely won with it on hard. i bet if you maxed at that point, the first dragon would be doable if not easy on legendary. you'd probably need a respec with more fully maxed armor and weapons and max quality by the second dragon on legendary. you'd probably need close to maxed out for legendary final boss, though you won't have philosopher's stones yet by then, so a lot of top end items won't be possible. but you can always make a non-maxed out couple items like astronomical clock and high but not max tier bombs, and max quality fully-dived-into armor and weapons with all those dozens of golderions, even if you don't have completely maxed traits or are missing a few unlocks. that'd probably be enough for the endboss on legendary...

If you really like it and want more Atelier before Ryza 2, I highly recommend Rorona. I'm still going through its sequels, and I think Rorona is the best as it got the treatment of being a full remake, but, if you don't mind it being fairly easy (though some post-game bosses can be tough) then I highly highly recommend it. I hear the PS4 has some exclusive ones that are some of the best in the franchise too, but I haven't had a chance to play those yet myself

@@Olphas I've only been playing the atelier games for less than three years with my first being Sophie; I think it's also a good start and a lot cheaper than the other games. I'll hand it to Rorona out of the eleven entries I've played it's still in my top 3. In short this is how I break down each set of games: Arland focuses on individual character stories that can be self contained, Dusk easily has the best world building in Atelier I've seen that builds upon in each game in the trilogy and lastly the Mysterious games has the most fleshed out character arcs as they grow in each entry.

So from this i can gather the DLC isn't plot heavy and more Extra flavor thankfully. I think i might go for the DLC episodes and see how they go now that i've beaten Ryza and as I wait for Ryza 2 X3 thanks for the review. I won't be getting the season pass as I don't need the extra skins or costumes which will save me a bit in the long run but if anyone just wants the story DLC like the character stories, the new island and the Summer adventure event it'll run you about $40-$45 usd. This is not including skins, BGM or costumes. TAKES NOTES SQUARE-ENIX this is how you do DLC!! Flavor, not ESSENTIAL PLOT to understand the story like Kingdom Hearts 3 or Final Fantasy 15!!

I'm wrapping up my current playthrough of Tokyo Xanadu EX+ and will decide after whether to play Atelier Ryza, FFVII Remake, or Catherine Full Body. I'm playing the main story for the first time, I'm loving it, but I gotta say that the first 8 hours was really slow paced and I had to force myself to continuing playing. I'm glad I did, the game got a lot better. This game has so many complex mechanics and is so satisfying learning them. I have only 3 complains about this game: 1 - the side quests are really uninspiring fetch quests, I made 5 or 6 of them and ignored them after. 2 - there is a lot recycling monster design in this game, oh here is a blue monster, now here is a stronger version of this monster, exactly the same but now red, now exactly the same monster but now black. Nothing wrong recycling monsters designs in my opinion, but you have to do a little more than just changing its color. 3 - there are so many mechanics in this game, which is great, but the game don't make a great job teaching you them. I had to do some research to understand things about this game. I'm really enjoying this game and I hope the next one will fix some of these problems, at the very least the monster design problem, I think that is the worst of them.
@nvrmltice

I have the same complain with the monster designs, and I know other rpgs do it too but here is much more noticeable and I think it also affects the exploration of new areas like, you know, sometimes you wonder what you will find in said new area and you got the exact same enemies but in different colors

When it comes to atelier games it's never about your character level, it's all about making the best gear, weapons, and items for taking down bosses. I never finished Ryza, I just couldn't get into the game that much and most of it was cause I really disliked it's battle system.

Things are getting worse with each new releases because people are actually buying this shit. Soon they will put a price tag that is more expansive than the basic game itself and people will still be buying these things. They are always pushing the boundaries further, it's time to say something about these practices before it gets out of hand (it already feels like it has).
