I'm 60 years old. I started doing tech support back in 1990. I've done on-site, phone, chat, email... All of it. I'm still in the gig. I remember when this came out. I just turned this on to one of the dudes on my team who's in their 30s. He loved it. This series of videos should be in the Smithsonian as the best damn depiction of what it's like to be a support tech. Love this and you all who agree. Peace!

Great comment. I’m just watching this now for the first time which is giving me a very odd feeling as I was online at the time and it’s odd I missed out on this back in the day. Any screen recording of computers and the internet from those times should be preserved. But this especially needs to be in a museum!

I completely agree! I'm 52 now and I remember working for a large credit reporting company working at 1 City Block in Orange, CA. As normal for a Friday "some" of us took an extended lunch and watched a movie at the mall within walking distance. One day we get a severity 1 call and the entire movie theatre started buzzing and lighting up (Motorolla/Nextel i1000 with two way radio). All of us had to hustle out of there quick! (And Yes, I'm still in the gig too. Love what I do, just not the politics or managers that are not proactive.)

Yes, that's roughly when I saw it the first time too. It's so timeless though. The "Apache" server is so quaint, and he had a tab on "Monster", of course, looking for more money and more job cushion, lol. Now it's NGINX and Ingress running on AWS EKS or Azure AKS, or some other Kubernetes Cluster, but everything still roughly maps to today, except it's Halo Master Chief Edition while you're on MS Teams with others, troubleshooting your Cluster.

I watched this way back when, and to this day it still stands as an absolute masterpiece of comedy. It's so good you can still wonder if this isn't a real recording. Every single line is delivered to perfection, the slight voice distortion gives that "protect the identities" element, the acting by itself is phenomenal, the characters on point ... I just can't explain. Perfect ... and then, the penis. Thank you for this. Thank. You.

Couldn't have been stated better Sara. I've been working IT since 1992, and just happen to stumble across these today. I can't believe how old these are and yet they still apply big time today...I couldn't stop laughing. Any IT guy can totally pick up on the minor IT terms and phrases that come up, that make me just laugh, like... Derrick "Did you reboot your system?" Chip "Yes" Derrick "How many times did you reboot?" Chip "Three man, ya always tell me to do it three" That little exchange right there is GOLDEN. Typical exchange between an IT guy and a totally non-IT guy...hahaha! This stuff is great. I wish he would come back and do more.

I was a graveyard shift tech support analyst. There were 12 guys and 1 lady. We got virtually no calls after 1:00 AM. My boss figured it would be a good idea if we played video games and stop an hour before the morning shift came in. We played Half Life and Unreal Tournament. The lady didn't want to play and had no one to chat with because we were too busy playing. She would constantly complain so by boss fired her. Online gaming on the company LAN was an amazing experience. It was a great gig 20% raise as soon as you switched. We had a fully stocked kitchen like a small 7-11 plus 24/7 takeout. It was a DOT COM and they had money to burn. It all came to an end in about a year.

nicoqueen in my opinion it's hard to tell what they're saying, they're speaking incomprehensibly to where the point that it is inaudible, it sucks when people edit videos and increase the pitching because it makes it a little more mundane in a way, i got pretty bored while just watching the videos, because it sounds like Alvin And The Chipmunks are doing a voiceover of someone's website getting taken down by a professional DDoSer, now i am not quite sure if he was DDoSing but that was an assumption.

Watched this when I was 14 and didn't get it. I'm 26 now, been working in IT a few years. This video is almost too painfully relatable now...

I saw this as a teen and think about this to this day and I work in IT so it’s still relevant. Thank you for the laughs 😆

I love the trouble calls when the client who needs IT seemingly trusts their non-IT friend's advice over ours. "Well, so and so told me that you did last time."

watching this as an IT guy high at work while remoted into a computer. How we have come full circle.

This is so gold, most people won't realize it, but this whole series is phenomenal. It pretty much describes a whole industry, at least back in the day, but still applies to today... Love it and whoever took the incredible amount of time it must have taken to make this so good, with all the references and everything. I just love this so much, I must have seen it near (no joke) 50 times.
