@@sugie500 The harpsichordist at the court had only to serve the dancers. Imagine, you are the one. The dancing Comtesse at the stage could be me. See my clothing and I am not young. and everybody is looking at me. If you play a tempo I can not dance, I will fire you at once. These were the customs. The question is, how can you know before, that you will play my tempo, so that I will not fire you? It does not depend on your selektion of binary or ternary, that is for sure.

​@@martinh1277 The dances you find in a baroque suite were never intended for being danced. In fact, most of them were already out of fashion even at that time. That is why performers have to respect the spirit of each dance but at the same time can take interpretive liberties.
