My favourite Bach, besides BWV582 and 572, and played with excellence! You have given us the best performances of this piece on KZbin!

Richard, that was a superb performance in an outstanding setting; thank you so very much. Unfortunately, I can’t play the organ but it’s so amazing that four consoles and pedals can all be utilised at the same time - what a magnificent instrument!! So glad you had a registrant to help with all those stops. 🤣🤣

Bach's music always comes through -- even on a Spanish instrument! Nicely played! I can hear you using your "cathedral ears" -- playing the room as well as the instrument ...

Currently trying to learn this piece. Really love those extra flourishes and ornaments on the recapitulation of the prelude. Hair raising.

I don't suppose you could be induced to produce a video breaking this piece down? I know you had a few "rehearsal" type videos some time back.

Thanks Richard for sharing this beautiful piece, you’re wonderful performance and the great views. The second part of the fugue is in my opinion one of the best piece of music Bach has ever written. It is manually, but there is so much movement to listen to. Regards from Zandvoort.

Great organ and awesome performance, Richard! P.S. To follow up Sunday's stream, here are the tips to pronounce Murcia: 1. Say "Moore". 2. Say "Seer" the way you usually do, i.e., British way without the final "r". 3. If you want to sound more European (Castilian, actually), change the "s" to a "th" in "seer". 4. Join the two, stressing the "Moore" syllable. 5. Enjoy. The key point here is that there is no "girl/fur" vowel in here, it's an "oo" that makes it more authentic. And of course, it's an approximation I can do in text :).

I can see why the en -chamade is called "Battle Trumpets". They look like guns on a battleship! Great playing, excellent sound and magnificent organ. Only thing is I think the pedal could have done with a bit more clarity in the Fugue. But maybe it sounded different in the room.

Marvelous! The hang time in that Cathedral is perfect for this tempo. And those big growly pedal stops! Richard, do you find it difficult to switch between flat and radiating pedalboards?
@cmtwei9605Күн бұрын
A very satisfying performance, the roaring sound does sound French. The pedal voice is particularly strong. Interestingly the builder used the French terraced console but the Grand Orgue is on the second bottom rather than the bottom manual. In the fugue I personally would start off with more restrained registration and only build up to a huge climax in the final section. A spare camera or at least an audio recorder would help should the first camera fails. 😊

Hi Richard. Wonderful video quality. What did you use as a mic to record on?

Gorgeous! And what a magnificent instrument! Sorry the recording went awry on you though. Hopefully that can get sorted before the next performance.

I started playing this and thought, that is WAY to fast! Then i discovered that I had KZbin set to 1.5x playback speed... ok, starting again now!

I’ve looked up several stop lists for some Spanish organs. My favorite thing is that the en chamade trumpets are usually called battle trumpets rather than festival trumpets. I’d love to see other names. I’ve also seen state trumpets.

A shame about the camera! But we do have this great performance of JSB. It is interesting how you use the divisions to great effect in creating contrasts - light and dark, almost. Did the audio of the rest of the concert record OK? I’m sure there are many of us would settle for the audio. After all, I grew up in monaural EPs and LPs. That’s all we had but through it I was introduced to DGG and their recordings of JSB by Helmut Walcha. We are spoilt with online streaming of high quality video/audio - at which you are quite a master.
