Chris Busutil Hey man sick ski bro I'm currently in the middle of 550 750 build myself. Running into a problem with the pump I'm using a 550 pump. My 550 pump is blowing out. What pitch impeller should I be using?

My brother got 2 550 and a 650 and built a jet. He got a normal hull with the hood and pole off a racing 550 ( different hood ) and put a 650 motor in it with the 550 pump

porpoising on glass flat water = the culprit is PJS top loader, it is meant for strictly rough water and that was not rough water at all! Perhaps a stock grate with the center cut out would give you way better performance in/out of tricks as well as holeshot and less porpoising!

Yes stock grate. I had a top loader on it in the video. It was the very first time on the water.

I'm not sure why you were porpoising so much on that glass. That water is near-perfect! You should be able to hold it WOT and have it be perfectly smooth... Maybe try moving your feet forward more? The paint on your ski looks really good.

Thanks. at the time i was running a top loader intake grate for choppy water. i put the stock grate on and shes no longer hops like that anymore.

Collin Robinson whats up man. Yes I'm using the stock 550 pump with a 20*pitch prop. No less thin a 19*pitch prop on a 750 conversion ski. I'm also running a JRE small pump cone. Helps push more water out. Good luck with your build man!

thats one hell of a porpoise machine.. might look into truing the bottom of the hull.. it will really help with that

sweet man ! I just picked up a 88 550 hull off a buddy and i will be putting my board out 650 motor with 78.mm pistons in it Bad bones head single 44.mm carb and lighted fly wheel .. and need to swap out that 550 pump and put a 140.,mm pump in her ..

That ski is Super Clean looks really good. Have you noticed and stress on the 550 Hull from the bigger mill

If you Read the comments you would see that I had the Wrong intake grate on! It was the very First time on the ski. I had a top loader on. ( for very choppy water) after that she was as smooth as butter!
