Are there any resources to setting up popular radios that are not in the software rig menu Such as a Yasue FT-710 or a Xiegue X6100
@hamradiomadesimple11 ай бұрын
Not really and that is so frustrating. Once you figure yours out, send it to me and I will make it available for others. Also, more than one way to approach this. Direct CAT Control, Rig Control Software and also use RTS vs CAT settings. If you still have issues, email me at HamRadioMadeSimple@gmail.com. We can set up a time to try and figure it out.

Great video! I have a question about the CAT level. I am running an Icom 7300 and windows 11. I am not receiving many messages and the CAT level is about 10 and in the yellow most of the time, it does bounce around up to green at around 20-20 db once in awhile. I have set the mic levels in the pc to high and both microphone & speakers are codec for input and output in settings. What am I missing? Thanks

Very comprehensive but seems very complex, a lot of time spent on how important time is, most of us will be familiar with FT8 before trying JS8 and if my clock is within a couple of hundred milliseconds on FT8 and it's working fine won't JS8 work ok ??? Also lots of time explaining message boxes and relaying but I'm not sure if I can answer or make a CQ and have a keyboard to keyboard QSO in plain english text and ask about the weather, rig, power, antenna, city, operators name etc, the sort of stuff we talked about with PSK31 before FT8 existed. Maybe I'm missing something, I just want everyone to go back to PSK 31 and talk to each other, but it is a great video, thanks,73.

Can anyone tell me why JS8CALL disables my FT-991A's internal tuner as soon as it keys the radio? It seems to be sending the command to turn the internal tuner off as soon as it sends the PTT command to the radio. It's does it if I hit the tune button in the software, on a timed TX or a forced CQ. Seems every method it uses to ley the radio has the same effect, disabled the internal tuner as the radio goes in to TX mode.
@hamradiomadesimple7 ай бұрын
Are you using Flrig or just direct CAT control from the 991A? If not, try Flrig and see if you get the same results. I think we have to start ruling out what may be the cause. I don't own a 991A but can ask around.
@MrZerohour19677 ай бұрын
@@hamradiomadesimple Hi, I can confirm no other CAT software has this issue, FLRig, HRD, WSJTX etc all behave fine. I think I worked it out in the end. I had split mode set to Rig, then flicked it back to off and the problem went away, then I went back to split mode Rig and it worked fine, so maybe some weird bug. Anyway all working now thanks :)

Somehow I changed all the display settings of my waterfall and now it looks all funny. I tried to uninstall js8 and reinstall but it had all my configurations saved somewhere and the problem persists. Is there a reset button on js8? Or where can I find the default settings for the display tab that controls the waterfall?

JS8 looks interesting, but it seems as if many common practices and features require unattended operation at HF, which seems to violate FCC amateur service regulations. How is this addressed in the community?
@hamradiomadesimple10 ай бұрын
Most features require attended operation however, messages can be left for someone to be picked up later on without someone attending the station. WSPR does not require someone to be at the station as TX & RX is going on. You set it up and leave it running in order to build out the mapping of their signal. Digital is different than Voice in many ways so I think this is why it is permitted. GREAT QUESTION!! Anyone else want to share their insight??
@PNWminuteman7 ай бұрын
Can anyone point to the law that says a station must be attended verses in one’s control? I believe this is a myth that is repeated over and over by the internet.

Well done video - thanks for the info, I may have to watch again to make sure i caught all the nuggets of info. So, is it possible to send a message to Drew if you don't have a direct connection to him and don't know if there is station you both could hear (for store/forward). In other words is there any sort of routing like in packet for messages? Also, how do you figure out what band someone frequents? 73 de ki5gx
