if it helps evaluating distances, speed, body positions, even hardcore gamers will want to have those advantages and real-time lighting brings that. Just as resolution helps seeing far away. At a certain point, when little gains in lighting will occur, i think physics are going to matter more, like rain and evaporation cycles, domolishables objects, proper collisions including what a character steps on and how it will influence his behavior,etc

Vicks Vaporub Path Tracing lol. This demo convinced me to get a few 5090s in the future, and stick with an offline path tracer. You cut the video short but he also showed off nvidia's version of the meerkat anim that Weta made three years ago. It looked really broken compared to the original, and he said it uses the full real time path tracing suite (direct, indirect and dlss). GI looked straight outta 2003. Hot take is that their hardware will get significantly faster over time, and make a bigger difference in path tracing visuals than any vicks rendering technology.

To answer you ending comment, I care about performance most. The graphics can be garbage, but as long as the artistic expression is kept, then it can be whatever quality. Which is why some low poly games work so well. I love how high quality things can get, but if my whole system lags from just the game then I do not play it. I almost always reduce the quality to absolute minimums, just so that I can play without issues. If performance was not an issue, then I would like to see how good the graphics can get, but my system just cannot handle that. Which is why I like to optimize when I do game dev to be as performant as possible but still have good graphics.

@@Jsfilmz This is not the same build from 5 months ago, that one pathtraces shadows and point lights only, no pathtraced gi or reflections. The new one can pathtrace GI but no reflections. Please be honest to your commentors.

Couldn't those people who play on extra low settings to get 1000 fps just leave modern gaming alone ? I mean they are happy with a turd running on their screen as long as it's 1000 fps, right ? So, why don't they go back and play some older games from 2005 or 2011 ? I am sure those games would run with 1000 and even 2000 fps on their modern rigs. Why they want specifically to ruin current games ? They want modern games to look like 2012 games and ruin gaming for everyone. Why can't they just play true 2012 games and leave us alone ?

im 4 mins in and id still rather have ai over vs path trace its like forcing old tech cause its part of the brand vs its the best choice. I dont even think we need all the gpu stuff these days. The ai overlay vids look better than the path trace too

@@Jsfilmz im not the software dev but i think a simple way is to let the ai pre screen the textures in the game and just replace them with the ai textures. All the ai overlay is doing is replacing the pixels. When i do video to video its not interacting with any pathtracing. I bet theres a super simple way to have the ai assigned to the textures then the overlay just inserts the right texture a mili sec before we see it like adaptive frames
