Just gonna put this here because it’s hananene and I’ve been wanting to discuss this but idk where to- *MANGA SPOILERS ALL THE WAY UP TO LATEST CHAPTER* Really, unless Yashiro does die and becomes an apparition at the school, I don’t see how Hanako and Yashiro could ever work, at least with the information we have so far. After all, Hanako is bound to the school, he can’t leave Yashiro will have to graduate and leave at some point, so unless she becomes a teacher, she wouldn’t be able to stay with him And even then, of course since Yashiro is human she will age, and with Hanako-kun not physically aging it’d get weird fast So unfortunately I think it’s kind of bound to be a bittersweet relationship It’s practically confirmed just based off what has been shown so far, such as the Akane almost kissing her scene and just the picture perfect arc in general, that Hanako has real feelings for Yashiro and isn’t just teasing her. But, he probably hasn’t made a real, non-joking/teasing move yet because he understands the situation they’re stuck in. The only time he made a real move towards Yashiro was during the picture perfect arc, where he got Yashiro to say she liked him and asked her out on a date, and I think it’s safe to assume he made that move then because he didn’t have to worry about the situation they have in their reality, and in that world not only could Yashiro survive, he and Yashiro could be together If it wasn’t for their situation, he probably would’ve made such a move in reality by now, as he did it as soon as there was the chance of them being able to be together (in the fake world ofc) Additionally, as stated within the Time Keeper’s arc, Yashiro was only able to summon Hanako-kun because of her lack of remaining lifespan which brought her close to the far shore In the recent chapter, after Aoi’s death, Aoi’s intended remaining lifespan went to Yashiro, and so Yashiro no longer is to die soon, which means that she must no longer be close to the far shore, so she shouldn’t be able to see and interact with supernaturals such as Hanako-kun anymore. Hanako-kun implies this himself in the manga’s latest page, where after stating how Yashiro will no longer die soon, he says that he will have to say goodbye to her, and that it’ll get lonely. And so, Yashiro will probably start losing her ability to interact with supernaturals soon that’s a whole other layer onto the whole Yashiro and Hanako couldn’t work thing With what we know so far, unless Yashiro somehow still dies, there’s no making them work, unless some new story element/plot twist is added in that makes it possible Which, while there probably will be plot twists regarding their relationship, and I’d honestly be disappointed without some, I do still feel that no matter what happens between them that it will likely have a bittersweet ending I don’t see this as the type of series that would have your typical “Happily Ever After”-type ending And the creator of the jshk manga is known for their works having bittersweet endings, too But those are just my thoughts-
