The gear is all in the video description. I used 50# leader material, tied the diamond jig direct, and had a hook on a dropper loop about a foot above that for the teaser. 20# braid on the reel. Leader attached to the braid through a swivel.

Great job John. Interesting move using a diamond jug on Black Sea bass. I’ve never used that kind of jig on sea bass. What size hook do you recommend?

@JohnSkinnerFishing4 жыл бұрын
You don't need real bait, but something like Gulp as a trailer.
@jakerice52624 жыл бұрын
I've been watching EliasV do really well fishing for fluke with paddletails and pro-cure, the theory being if you aren't doing super long drifts it's better then Gulp due to durability and potentially larger profiles. I'm curious about your opinion/experience with pro-cure
@JohnSkinnerFishing4 жыл бұрын
Elias and I are friends and I've tried exactly what he does, right down to the same paddle tails and scents. You see I'm still with the Gulp, although I frequently try substitutes. In the southern waters there will be situations where the interference fish (pinfish etc) are so thick that Gulp does not make sense. In those cases you must use something more durable, like a Zman for example. This was my experience in Florida, although I was still able to use Gulp more than 90 % of the time that I wanted.

Hi John, huge fan! Can you comment on the difference between the Tsunami slow pitch rod vs the Nexus? Are they similar action or do you prefer one over the other for jigging fluke?
@JohnSkinnerFishing4 жыл бұрын
They are very different. The Nexus is the rod I want to bounce fluke jigs with. The Slow Pitch has a much softer tip, but is good for yo-yo'ing diamond jigs because of its spring action or live lining for something like stripers. The Slow Pitch is very deceptive in that it has a lot of power.

@@JohnSkinnerFishing thanks! I have the MH and XH of the Slow pitch. Have caught many a striper ealing in the northern Chesapeake on the xh and use the mh for slow pitch jigs and chumming/live lining.
