Hello John, I watched an earlier video of yours where you reveiwed the GSB81MS and you said it was similar to to GSB Skinner only a foot shorter. Would recommend the GSB81MS for North Shore fishing over the GSB Skinner or GSB91LS? As usual your content is great,
@JohnSkinnerFishing5 жыл бұрын
The 8' is fine for smaller applications. If you don't already have a 9, then I'd get the skinner rod because it's very versatile and will also serve you well on most ocean days and environments.

@killajakez5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Trying to get into lures, as I feel it's more "sporty" than casting it out every 10 minutes. From what I understand, the technique is to go out when there are moderate waves, and get the lures behind the first wave where the water is foamy since that's where the baitfish are being swept around. This looks like it's not open ocean? Is it an inlet? The water looks eerily calm.

Hi John. My name is Faisal living in Saudia Arabia and have read your books, which are really great work. I am now buying a new good rod and in a lot of rods to choose from and being living this far I cant hold and feel the individual rods and would need your kind guidance as to best rod recommendations for casting from 3/4 ounce to 3 - 4 Ounce range which are very sensitive rods and not just mere broom sticks. Thanks and very kind regards
@JohnSkinnerFishing5 жыл бұрын
What length? The 10-footer that I link to in the video description is what I like for a 10-footer. You can spend 1/4 of that and get a Tsunami Trophy II and still have a pretty good rod.
@faisalrafique61075 жыл бұрын
@@JohnSkinnerFishing many thanks for your kind reply and honest suggestions as always. May i take your kind guidance as a student of your extensive work, should i buy a 9 ft or 10 ft rod for 3/4 to 3 to 4 ounce range primarily for bucktailing as i have passion for this lure. My height is 5 ft and 7 and half inches and wonder if it has to do anything with size of rod for bucktailing. I am now thinking of buying odm genesis 9 or 10 foot options. Await your kind advises. Thanks and kind regards

When I was around 10 yrs old, I caught my first legal striper on a cane pole with one hook and a sardine. Yes, it can get very expensive. I often say to myself that lures are made to catch people more so than fish lol. But as you know, any master at his craft wants to feel and work with the finest tools they can afford. What one buys is only limited to the thickness of their wallet.
@JohnSkinnerFishing5 жыл бұрын
Great comment. I thought you were wrong for a bit, but then I remembered the Boga 260 and wading shoes. FWIW, most serious surf anglers that I know spend double the price of that reel. You can also spend half and still do fine.
