its lightweight to implement and is sufficiently fast for most applications.

It is better to use JSON instead of other alternative because there is no guarantee of their deprecated issues. It is better to fix JSON data to use only JSON. 14:57

JSON is not the best but the most used data exchange protocol and that's mostly because of REST APIs but I always believe nothing beats protobuf.
