I agree that Hetcenus doesn't make stuff that we'd expect from a stereotypical Sonic re-arrangement, but at the same time... I absolutely love his stuff. I find it so cool to hear videogame themes transformed into professional piano solos.

Hearing this version, it puts Sonic's journey into perspective for me audially. Here we are, at the edge of the earth, the shear arctic wastes bite into Sonic's fur as he has come here to beat Robotnik to collect the Master Emerald; here, after it flew off the Deathegg after it's crash. This place is unforgiving, cold, calculating. Just like Robotnik. He took Knuckles, he took Angel Island, he took everything under that cold, calculating smile. "The Master Emerald has to be here, and I have to find it befor he does." Sonic thinks to himself as he speeds across the trundra. The icepack makes it hard for his shoes to grip and provide him traction enough to get up to Mach speed. So he has to do this slowly, methodically. Which is unusual for Sonic. If it wasn't this cold; he could just scoop up the Master Emerald no problem and be back to Angel Island before Robotnik can get here. But no, the cold, and the ice makes it too difficult for him to run at full speed without losing his footing. He could slip, fall into a crevasse, or worse; the freezing water beneath. But he can't swim, so no. He can't go fast. Not here. And the time is ticking, Either he finds the Master Emerald, or Robotnik finds it first.

Definately helps, thanks! =) For me, this is one of the best remixes I've ever heard on Project Chaos: It sound so calm & full of emotion! For some reason, this remix makes me think of Sonic frozen in icy water, & Tails is desperately trying to save him before he drowns/freezes to death too! It's amazing how 1 song (or remix) can make you imagine stuff!

Right now, a chill ran up my spine, this song is amazingly beautiful! Certainly Hetcenus has put a lot of emotion in this song. Look, some said that you can't recognize the song until certain time, but I say that if you are a true Sonic fan &/or a good listener, you can uncover the original song, that remains along the remixed music context.

Absolutely amazing redone song. Definitely captures the aspect of traveling along an area covered in ice and snow. It might not be anything like the original song from the game because there is snow boarding and such at the start, but it is a good piece nonetheless.

For those who can't hear Ice Cap in this, here's what I can recognise: 0:00 - 0:35 - Seems to be bassed on the bassline of the intro. 1:25 - 2:04 and 2:43 - 3:15 - The right hand is playing around with the lead melody. It's changed a fair bit, but it's still fairly clear. 3:15 - 3:40ish - The right hand is playing with the intro's bassline again. 3:52 onwards - The main melody comes in again. This is probably the easiest section to recognize. I hope that helps . : )

Coming back to this yet again, I still don't understand how people don't recognise Ice Cap in this arrangement. It's understandable if people don't like this, but to not hear Ice Cap? Once it hits 1:20, it's entirely Ice Cap, but as a piano arrangement. Ice Cap is a simple tune, it's not that hard to recognise.

Ice Cap in a slower classical style has alot of emotion within it! I don't know why but it sounds more nostalgic to me than any other Ice Cap remix/remake I've heard in the past (I guess it's the emotion in it)! =') Another reason why I love this remix is cause it's alot different than the average I.C. mix - there usually techno or dance all the time, & it ca get abit boring sometimes (IMHO).

@Jcrexxor the first four chords are E minor, D major, C major, B Major with the responding chords note played before the chord in the left hand. The next set of chords do the same thing except this time, the chord sequence is E minor, G major, D major, B major, then a G and F# on two octaves back to the E for the next sequence. Then it's the same with the first sequence of chords but at the end of the sequence, you play an A and a G on two octaves.

Obviously you didn't listen to the melody Closely. Plus it is a remix after all - it would have some original melodies & differant instruments. This is what makes it stand out from the original; it is different, yet at the same time, simular to the original Ice Cap Zone versions Act 1 & 2 (heck, Act 2 is a sort of remix of ICZ Act 1).
