From the start my opinion has always been that neither City Girl can rap, I still stand by that. They were just a gimmick and a vibe, JT just had a little more rap swagger. I’m glad you mentioned JT vs the criticism Megan gets. JT gets way too much grace as far as criticism while Megan is by far a superior rapper but gets hated on so hard, I’m convinced they really don’t listen to Megan’s music at all because if they did half the criticism would be obsolete because she does what they always claim she doesn’t.

Agree! It’s not even a serious conversation. The way they move the goal post and make excuses for JT. She’s been out longer than Meg, Cardi etc, entered the game as apart of a group, signed to a major label, had a NM co-sign and her man is quite successful in his own right. The rags to riches storyline isn’t translating because she hasn’t been poor for a long time. To go from shit*ing on women while promoting a city girl lifestyle and suddenly trying to be relatable is crazy. She just doesn’t have IT.

I agree with you. ‘Hope’ really set the bar for me and I kept finding myself hoping it would get better, but the more I listened, the more it felt like something was missing. I think JT has love for rap and is amazing at building an organic fanbase who finds her real and relatable. I just want her to dig a little deeper and really evolve lyrically. There was no wordplay or cleverness that left me feeling wowed. When I read lyrics, I want to feel like I’m peeling back layers that slowly reveal who an artist is. My favorite part of the project was the story-telling aspect of it. I also enjoyed how she kept it very Miami-Dade. She’s giving ppl a chance to know her outside of the City Girls, which is important now that she’s going solo. I hope her first official solo album brings us more.

I gave it a listen 🎧 during morning workout. I definitely respect the “Cinderella” story & theme but the delivery and cadence didn’t hit for me. The into was real & relatable, gave insight to her story. Big ups to her for still going no matter what anyone thinks ✊🏾💯🤷🏽‍♀️

her ear for beats is insane, she's definitely going far if she keeps working these producers and expanding her scope. I feel like she has a classic in her, I wasn't a fan of the city girls but her solo singles kept me tuned in and this mixtape really surprised me in a good, the way there is so much variety to choose from also the production choices were so refreshing, you can definitely tell that she is very tapped in and is real fan of hip hop. I feel like she needs to work on her rap skills a bit and she's definitely going to set a new standard for mainstream female rap, I'm definitely rooting for her.

I thought I was the only one. For some reason songs that she did with YM she had a faster more cohesive flow and her raps really hit. I definitely think because she’s going so much slower, it sounds so ABC and like she’s reading a book. I thought this album would give more of a No bars/sideways vibe which was really her element, hopefully she can get a hit out of this tape.

Your commentary on these artist and their music is far better than any other blogger on the NET. You are honest very knowledgeable about the content, not bias and playing sides. I now look to you, maybe a couple more but don't bother with the others, its refreshing because they stay on words like Flopping, Bop and no real analysis to show they know what they're talking about. You can tell the limits on their education. I read an article on how music is changing beyond the known genres as to how technology has effected it. Can you touch on this at some point to inform the ignorant viewer whk think they knie music beyond BOP and FLOP. 😂😂😂

I like the song "Swing," although fans still gas her. She sounds amateur. That's it. Regardless of who wrote it, I preferred Careesha's raps because the lyrics and delivery made sense, and the punchlines hit. With JT, it feels like I have to listen to an entire lazy verse to get a lackluster punchline, if there is one. Perhaps it's just not for me. The beats are good, though!

I thought this project was ok (no pun intended). It was enjoyable & a nice fun listen but for me none of the songs were good enough to add to my music library or even a playlist. I’d give it a 6 or 7 out of 10 . Edit: the beats helped get this mixtape to a 6/7. They carried for me.

When you say "Radio Friendly," what does that mean? I don't get that from a lot of these female rappers. They stretched WAP all the way out to get it on the radio and it didn't work. Just like the City Girls "Take Yo Man" record. It was to watered down when they tried to put it on the radio.
