This phenomenal piece (from "Legend of Korra" season 1 episode 12) is composed by the one and only ‪@jeremyzuckermanmusic‬. The track occurs during the final scene of the season, when all seems lost. I absolutely love the lush chords and the epic build-up to the Avatar theme. For my arrangement, I went with 8 cello parts to fill out the chords and also chose to keep a lot of the melodies in very high octaves on the cello.
On this project I got the amazing Zlatomir Fung to play the solo erhu parts on the cello! In order to more closely match the timbre of the erhu, Zlatomir used judiciously placed glissandos and went way up on the D and G strings. His interpretation is as always incredibly wonderful.
For this video, Zlatomir played on the “Braga” Stradivarius cello, 1731.

Thank you! I usually arrange from scratch, which is pretty time consuming. I found that all the transcriptions that are available online were not accurate enough for my standards.

@@mrmcblue.-.1745 I would recommend transcribing music yourself! I started out by listening to the track hundreds or thousands of times and wrote down the notes with the help of a piano keyboard. Once you really understand the music it becomes easier to decode the layers. Great ear training exercise.

I listen to the original track many many times and write the notes down by ear! I do this for pretty much all my covers.

It really isn’t! It is however very time consuming and I’m not even particularly amazing at it. Check out June Lee and his transcriptions for some top tier stuff. It’s also not hard to get into! Just listen to the track a bunch of times, and get in front of a piano keyboard to help figure out the notes, and go slow and section by section. Great ear training exercise.
