Sung Min i bet is hurting too along side Ji Won. You can see the pain on his eyes when Ji Won was feigning happiness and her laughter. He can really see right through Ji Won and knows that she's totally not okay. He's worried about her, anxious that she'd decide something reckless and harsh to punish herself for the fate of Hyo Jin, and as a way to get over her guilt. It pains him that he cant do much about her friend's problem. Sung Min might be a grumpy granpa, but he's a real and the best friend ever

I have a feeling that is not the full/right story. I don't think HyoJin could have killed herself because of Song. Sungmin always guesses right.
