Wow I have never seen an oil pan with that much water pouring out of it where the engine wasn't rusted solid. Great job getting all the problems diagnosed and getting it to run. I have a 1989 Ford F150 XLT Lariat am the third owner and mine still runs and drives fine. It has hauled a ton of tile recently and always starts first time every time and it has 160,000 miles on it. Engine has never been opened or rebuilt.

I've recently drained 10 litres out of an old holden v8 from a paddock. Only about 2 litres of oil if that came out after the 10 litres of water. We pulled the engine staight down and because it was2 completely full and sealed there was no rust except a little bit of surface rust mud skurv in the oil pump gears witch we simply cleaned and was gone without a trace

Nice truck.! I have a '89 302 4spd. Drove it 6 years until she started blowing smoke and running like crap. In the early 2000's my old boss had a '83 300/6 and he would do burnouts to make us smile. 3 on the tree. Rev it up and dump the clutch! Love ford trucks '70 - '91. Here In Maine that baby would be toast with the climate. Good video

That's got me too. But he did say something about chunks. What surprised me with all that sludge he never dropped the pan and cleaned it out! All that crap is still around the pickup to the oil pump. Once that water came out, the pan should have been dropped and cleaned, crank and rods sprayed down.

Water is heavier than oil, so oil sits on top of the water.

as you pull the dipstick...the last fluid in the dip stick...will be the oil...the engine has been run. so you will see no bubbles...

I owned a 1982 F150 302mfi Aod & 9” my dad gave me when I was 18 , was the best truck I ever had , I wish it would have been a short bed like this one , I should have never sold it 😞 I installed some used 5.0 mustang stock shorty headers into a 3” flow master exhaust and it changed the way that motor ran

@@mromatic17 ford engines and transmissions do not compare to GM. The GM automatic transmission platform is the strongest in the world used in 99.9% of drag cars. The engines are commonly used for a reason aswell. For instance the small block Chevrolet block is much stronger than the Windsor ford block/ stronger crank/ much better cylinder head design with larger valves and intake runners etc

Those rim's helped em to have a wider wheelbase and I've seen oil that bad and it could be the heads cause they might be aluminium but love the truck and hope yall the best of luck with it. K-Seal will instantly seal anything that's wrong with the cooling system just to get it running

Hello yes my name is Jackie I've been a mechanic for over 30 years and I used break clean spray down beside that shaft on it, it releases all the gunk and lets it all come loose by turning it back and forth that he can pull it right out with no trouble at the I used to do. Good luck.

if you ever run into one of these again, do not pull the body of the carb apart to fill the bowl, just pour it into those 2 large holes beside the choke opening - those are the bowl vents - they lead directly into it. it will save you some time too

Good job, one thing I would have tried is pouring a couple of quarts os varsol in the crankcase with the plug in and letting it sit overnight. That stuff drained out was nasty.

i bought an 88 f 150 for 200 bucks a year ago and i got it running but it idles high, about 300 rpm, i also had to rebuild the steering column. still, it is a project and it keeps me busy and out of bars.

Oil after setting years in a engine will start turning to a sludge in the oil pan. My '62 F-100 had been setting over 20yrs and had about half an inch of thick sludge in the oil pan. I've learned that pouring a gallon of gas down the dip stick tube, ONLY, and let it set about three days before dumping breaks up that old sludge. Then flushing out any gas left with old oil.

Do you guys own the rollback? If so, pro-trip, add dawn dish soap to the deck behind the front tires and "rock" the deck back and forth, it'll slide right off! You can also, slightly raise the deck and drive out from underneath the truck once the rear tires are on the ground with the brake set.

i bought one new in 1984 4x4 short wheel base 4.9 6 cylinder 4 speed with granny as 1st gear, add 2 inch coils in front, 3 inch exhaust cherry bomb jacobs ignition took off cat, went from 12 mpg to 18 mph 4 wheeled all over California mountains to the beach north south east and west sold it in 2005 with 540,000 miles on it to a friend before i moved to Idaho

Switch to Wix oil filters and don't run full synthetic in old engines as it can get thinner than standard oil and start leaking or burning oil.

29:52. Trick I use to get stuck distributors out is spray liberally with choke cleaner while spinning it back and forth. The goop from old oil and carbon builds up on the distributor shaft making it stick

Looks like a Windsor block, 302 or 351 not sure. Find our the firing order, take number 1 plug our on TDC & see if the rotor button is facing number 1 lead. Then either clockwise or anti depending on which way the dizzy spins, follow the firing order.

I would have poured 5 Qts of kerosene or Diesel in that motor and let it sit for day then drain out before putting Fresh Oil in it, get started then drain a qt and add a qt of crankcase flush start again bring up to temp, drain and refill with FRESH OIL & Filter.

What that bracket was most likely where the pulution pump was , I just bought a 1986 f 150 that runs &drives . It's body isn't as good as the one your working on the 302 needs a new oil pump but still runs. The oil pumps works when first driving till I turn it off then start it again then the oil pressure drops down to almost nothing. Well good luck with the 1983.

Ralphy might like that I this morning I picked up A 1996 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck running for only $100.00! Sounds to good to be true doesn't it. It's true it's the long bed 2 door 4 wheel drive Stick shift transmission breaks still work and everything else works been sitting since 2013 due to serious rusting and rot in the frame so I'm going to order the rust repair patches to fix it and they make A special Bondo putty that I have to coat the rest of the frame with to seal it to stop the rusting

I had one like this mine was 85 same interior. Like the engine a lot I did dual exhaust got rid the pollution pump it would turn heads sounded great with flow master exhaust. Tore that trim off put nice wheels on it tinted windows put slid back in new stereo . I think this year was first efi direct injection or something

You may have already thought of this. If so disregard this message.lol.I usually take a drink can with the top cut out and kink it so that it will pour a small stream to prime the carb through the little bowl vent tubes in the top.
