Just pulled mine out of storage, probably been in storage since before this video even came out tbh (5 years at the time of writing this). And had so much trouble getting it and your video helped tremendously! Admittedly I should have taken the batteries out when I packed it up, but alas, did not. Luckily I packed it WELL, in its original box wrapped in multiple layers of plastic, kept in temperature controlled areas, so not even a hint of corrosion. (Lucky, I know). But thanks a ton for this video!

Thanks a lot for this. I remember mmprtoys doing a scary double screwdriver method, but knowing you just need to go in at a specific angle makes it much more simple.

Thanks man. I could not figure it out, and stupid me lost the instructions. I watched your video while simultaneously attempting to pop it out, and suddenly the thing just exploded out at me. For a second I was afraid I had broke it, but thankfully I didn't. At least it's done now. Can't have those batteries corroding in there.

I scrape mine pretty bad wow I use a flat head screwdriver I'm really afraid to change batteries I asked my dad to do it for me now it's hard to open that part I wonder if I can place that certent back part I don't know😮 I lost the structions your video really helps out apparel like on your scription

I’ve had this thing since the release and it was the only time I could change the battery. Worst battery cover ever. I just wanna take out the old batteries before it does damage 😭😭😭

Thanks that helped but sadly I don't think. I will be putting in new batteries any time soon. The way they made it it's just to much of a pain . To replace them an who thought that was a good design in the first place.

unfortunately mine is now broken aka can't remove the batt cover as its been locked tight.....lucky thing i removed the batteries

Have you tried drilling a little hole/divot in the black plastic and using a screwdriver (or something small) to attempt moving it that way? I fear that mine too will eventually get to the point where it can't be operated. Sorry yours has broken. :\

nope not yet...contemplating if i should just disassemble the hilt and remove the locking mechanism

Well good luck if you do. I've heard removing the screw covers on these items can be a real hassle and rarely come off without getting damaged. Why they went for this sort of locking mechanism is beyond me when it seems much simpler methods are out there. How long have you had your Saba? It'd be great if you could contact Bandai and see about getting a replacement.

JTMitchell87 good news managed to open the battery compartment and as I expected the locking mechanism is broken so it's now in a fixed position.....next is to sand down the black locking mechanism just enough so the battery compartment won't come/slip off when placed back....stick masking tape on the battery compartment with a flap so it's easy to pull off the cover and voila......my saba is working again after 2 years

I'm glad to hear Saba has life again! I hope I don't ever have to do those mods again, but it's good to know it can be salvaged if it comes to that.

I attempted at removing the lid and no luck. It's such a hassle. I heard if you leave batteries in it'll corrode and malfunction the device. Is this true?

Sadly that's true for anything that takes batteries. I've had some toys that had corroded batteries after a year, but I've had some that have had the same batteries for going on ten and still don't have corrosion. I don't know what factors speed or delay the process.

You could probably take it back to where it was purchased and get a refund/replacement.

I'm not sure... Was it working before you replaced the batteries or were they fully dead already? I can only suggest making sure they were inserted correctly or try checking to see if there's any corrosion inside.

I used a dremel on mine Just watch it or the lid won't close. You're welcome...
