Not as magnificent as Pavarotti but very good voice indeed. He deserves respect and admiration. Juan Diego Florez is very good but Pavarotti is the best of the best.

Florez admires him greatly, but the repertoire and voice are of different kinds. I wouldn't compare them, but of course preferences are fully legitimate.

Lightness or heaviness is nothing to do with quality. Especially in an aria that is not specifically written for heavy voices. But don't worry, even this very light voice got heavier since then...

Carlo P exacto, pavarotti era el tenor con la voz de mayor tamaño que canto esta opera. Y pavarotti canto esto en 1995 quebrandose en la 1ra funcion, pero cantandolo perfectamente en las demas funciones

Ingemisco dal 1967, certo che il leggero Florez non puo far cosí... ciascuno la sua voce. "Tenorino" 😁😁😁 ma mi piace molto lo che fa questo piccolo, nella musica e nel suo paese, per il sviluppo sociale. E le sue interpretazioni delle canzoni napoletane son autentiche, con piú mandolina e meno orchestre.

I think this role was a stretch for Florez. There are other operas better suited to his voice that are not so taxing. The high C's bring out the nasal quality of his voice. Florez would do better to focus on the long run and preserve his voice rather than grasping for stardom.
