Like Juan Pablo or not, I believe him when he talked about how manipulative the show producers are in their quest for crafting sensational storylines to keep the viewers' attention. Gotten together in the end but not gotten engaged. He didn't do anything new. I don't get this excuse?? He should have done the admirable thing of not picking anyone. Like that other dude did. I totally agree with what he said regarding english vs spanish! Spanish is my first language too and he’s right. You can say “te quiero” which directly translates to “I want you” but is just known as a more platonic way to say “I love you” you can say “me gustas” “Me encantas” those are all just different stages of affection that are larger than like “I like you” in english. Saying “Te amo” in spanish is a lot stronger than saying “I love you” cause like he said in english you can love mayonnaise but in spanish you don’t have to be that serious about it lol

(Cont) Attack someone’s English when it is their second language. In expressing my disgust on Twitter I ended up getting a personal thank you from his Venezuelan mother, which began a series of events that were awesome and educational and worthy of their own TV interview. (Feel free to message me) Juan Pablo is from an outstanding, highly educated family. Turns out that the reason he is an American citizen is because he was born in NY while his father was completing a masters degree in architecture at Cornell. Also turns out coincidentally, his grandfather was a famous architect and attended Cornell in the 1940s with my father in law. I casually mentioned that if she was ever in California I’d love to meet her, and about a month later they came from Miami. I adored them. Nelly and Saul Galavais are outstanding people. Both social activists, and he an accomplished artist and architect who had to flee their home and life in Venezuela from a political revolution. Juan Pablo is their son and didn’t deserve the ugly treatment by Chris Harrison or the show. It was shameful.

I remember he was ripped to shreds in the press and social media after his show. That's great that you were able to get an interview with him. Shame on the producers/editors for many things, but especially for cutting out his explanations about the language differences. That was really important given that English is not his first language. Especially by today's standards ABC and the show would have been scrutinised for doing something like that! I hope you two and your families had a wonderful Christmas!

This completely changed my view of him. On the show, I just thought he was just there to fool around and enjoy having 25 women lust after him. But this showed that he was just a guy who wanted to fall in love in his own way. He saw through the show and wasn’t going to play by their rules. The bachelor has conditioned us to think that love and engagement is easy and fast. That’s not the case. And I think that’s we’re JP is coming from and they didn’t like that. Also, he had a good point about Claire. People on the show say things out of hurt. How else can you explain someone going into what they think is an engagement with the love of their life and then switching to “I hate you, you’re a horrible person and father”. It came from hurt 100%

Thank you for this! Biggest enlightenment in this interview was about the relationship between ABC and the Bachelor franchise. The fact that ABC pursued Juan Pablo for DWTS and The Bachelor franchise refused to let him contractually explains why Hannah Brown has no choice about going on the DWTS tour. Bachelor owns her, not ABC. They will not let her, so all our pleas to ABC are fruitless. Guess they think we are all stupid enough to think she is part of Peters season on the Bachelor, when in fact she was dancing her ass off on DWTS.

I saw his season and i did not think he was as horrible as everyone made him out to be! I think he was the most realistic about the process. I also think the woman he would have chosen at the end self-eliminated so that probably threw a wrench in things. And the final 3 he had connections with but he didn't have as strong of feelings for like he did for Sharlene. So when Andi dumped him of course "it's ok" because he wasn't in love with her or any of them because i get it how can you truly love anybody you got 40 hours max with.

Thank you for a very good interview. It takes courage to go against “Bachelor Nation” and give Juan Pablo a chance to defend himself against “public opinion”. I feel that, thanks to this interview, he has been vindicated. We have always known that the producers have been manipulative and the editors have cut together audio and film footage in an incorrect order or fabricated stories that haven’t been there; however, the extent of manipulation and editing became even more apparent after reading Colton’s biography as well as watching Pilot Pete’s season. I never watched Juan’s season but read about him in Andi’s biography (who refers to him as Nr 1) and listened to Chris Harrison and Claire Crowley talk about him; however, I realize now that it was once sided and not nuanced. love this interview! whit and ry, you guys are awesome! i always felt like juan pablo got a bad rap and got thrown under the bus by the franchise. they chose him b/c he's hispanic, in hopes of quieting the complaints against lack of diversity among the bachelors/bachelorettes. that they didn't show his conversations about the language differences between english and spanish regarding the topics of loving and liking people and things is really awful. a wonderful cross-cultural learning moment lost. having lived and dated and formed friendships in spanish speaking countries, i can relate to this - there are differences that are important to explain. instead, just throwing the non-english-speaker under the bus for not saying "i love you" is really an a$$hole move. rather than capitalizing on the diversity by incorporating aspects of his culture into the culture of the show, they made fun of him. all of the post-show mocking of him - of his accent, of his views - that continues all these years later is cringe-worthy, ethnocentric, and ignorant.

(Why had we never heard any doubts before ?) She was perfectly fine getting to the top 3 with him and even spending the night with him, but then suddenly decided she didnt like him or his personality? I always thought that she made up an excuse to dismiss herself so that she could be the bachelorette. In fact i wouldnt be surprised if she told her producer that she wasn't really into him (but was staying to try to get far in the show) and the producer gave the idea to exit because that way shed have a better chance at being picked for the bachelorette. Idk it seemed really shady and Juan Pablo did seem really taken off guard. If she really had felt that way the morning after why didnt she say something when they were alone that morning? He's definitely not perfect, but he's no villain, and there were several other bachelors whose behavior I found more objectionable (*hint* *hint* Jake). And Juan Pablo is also hilarious. I laughed a lot watching his season, and I laughed a lot watching this interview. This one got me to subscribe. Well done!

That dude is hilarious! In German we also differenciate different types of love, so I totally get him on that. We don't even tell our kids that we love them but say "hab dich lieb", but the passionate "love" thing is really solely for our partner.

I do agree with the love thing im from Venezuelan. Te quiero mucho is like i like you a lot which is the right thing to say when you know the person for a short period of time love is a very strong word in our country like i legit told it to my boyfriend after 2 years of knowing him

Absolutely changed my view of Juan Pablo - what a likeable/lovable guy... the bachelor should have let him be himself... he would have come out in a much better light... thanks for that... i'm a new fan of Juan Pablo!!!

I didn’t really like his season, but I believe him when he says the show is heavily edited, and and can pressure their choices. He seems Like a genuine guy. Not bad like he was edited as.

I could write an essay defending Juan Pablo but I will try to make this concise. I was sickened by the racial slurs and ugliness ABC showed to Juan Pablo after his season aired. I am a middle aged, Caucasian woman and was embarrassed to admit that people in our country would attack an

I didn't like the fact that Juan Pablo was not interviewed on The Greatest Seasons. Instead they brought back Bachelorettes that weren't from his season to diss him! If JP was invited and declined, Chris should have said so like he did with the first Bachelor (Alex). They invited back Justin (Rated R), Tierra, Corinne, Brad, Olivia (not 100% sure) to speak so it sounds like a double standard to not invite him back even if you think he's a villain. He deserved a right to say his side of the story.

HumanKaleidoscope -The truth is somewhere in between. There is so much manipulation behind the scenes in a reality show. There’s psychological testing etc. These “characters”, the crazies, upstanding ones, the ones who fall in love at first sight are hand picked. Juan Pablo was not accidental.
@humankaleidoscope49895 жыл бұрын
@@lee48lee68 yeah but that's all to be expected. it's the bachelor. I think he's using the bad reputation of reality shows/the bachelor and its producers to avoid accountability for his part in what happened. Also I think it's kind of ridiculous he's saying this was all the bachelor team trying to ruin him because he didn't propose. If anything, to result in higher ratings, but to ruin him? Idk there's just so many things he says that seem sketchy and manipulative, but that's just my interpretation

Hysterical...and he actually makes a lot of sense. I think the show could be greatly improved upon. Everyone should get a set amount of time the first night and everyone should get a one on one. They don't have to be dates that last all day. If the whole point of the show is to find someone and fall in love then why don't they lay the groundwork for that? Wouldn't it be better for the show if the couple's actually lasted???
@lacha6085 жыл бұрын
In reality the whole point of.the show is to produce entertaining drama that will captivate the audience and allow the network to sell expensive advertising. That's the actual point of the show. If the show wad really about relationship building it would proceed very differently. I think out of all the bachelor seasons only one has married the woman he chose on the show. (Several.bachelorettes have, presumably because women at the age that they.cast for are more interested in actually finding relationships, but even among the bachelorettes, few married the man they chose on the show).
@MilaTejana4 жыл бұрын
You are so right. First night, everyone gets 15 min, second week an hour, then two hours and so on to whittle it down would be a great 8 week speed dating situation that would work much better. This show isn't actually about creating long term relationships.

I always suspected that some of the differences between Juan Pablo and “the show “ were rooted in cultural and language nuances that are difficult to translate. I am Latin but was raised in the US so I can completely understand why Juan Pablo was so misunderstood. I like him even more now that I know he did not compromise his values and that he respected his daughter enough to stick to his convictions. He did not sell out like so many do for 15 minutes of fame. Thank you for doing this interview!

Sounds TO me somewhat that the route most Americans take, not being upfront all the time and not being very bold with our words came back to bite him in the ass. And Europe and other countries people are very blunt and very straightforward and we aren't really like that here because everyone is worried about offending other people

Omg. I Love you Girls. Congratulations again Superb interview. This was totally unexpected. As for JuanPablo he definitely gave a different side to the story and it makes sense. It awesome to see his interest in the affect to his daughter and him standing up for his mother. I always recommend girls to look how a guy treats his mother, that is a gage on how he will treat a women. Latin men are very different. Most have very strong values when it comes to their parents. (Pilot Pete is latin also and you see that with his relationship with his mom) He didn’t need bachelor nation to be famous and chose his Family over Fame. Great Interview GIRLS. This was unexpected. Can’t wait to see whats next.
