I agree these people are businessmen and they are successful largely because they make smart financial decisions and keep emotions out of it. I think the same is gonna apply to the Mets. Kay hates Steve Cohen and has been childishly jealous since he bought the Mets. I don't want Soto to go to L.A. but OMG what a full fledged temper tantrum Kay will have if Soto goes to the Mets. You can bet he will then say "Soto wasn't worth it!"

Just a reminder, only team taking a loss by not signing Soto would be the Yankees. If the Mets dont sign him or another organization, ultimately they can “shoulder shrug”. Same Plan B options we had they can now pursue… Obviously.
