I heard that on WFAN with Ricky Ricardo too. Soto gets the opt out regardless of who signs him.. It's better for the team if he opts out in 4 or 5 years. If Soto opts out at 31 let him go!! Still got five prime years. That being said, I'd give him 50 million for 5 years essentially thats what you're going to give him if he opts out.

I know that Juan Soto wants money, but I also know that he is competitive and would like to be on a team that is consistently a contender. I think the Yankees are the team that can best guarantee that. The Mets and Red Sox can have a good year from time to time, but in general they have been pretty mediocre in recent years.

Those teams that won the World Series no longer exist, and last year the team was not good either. The Yankees have at least been in the playoffs 7 of the last 8 years. That's what I was talking about, being consistent contenders.

I’m tired of hearing the Yankees need him in order to compete. He’s a great hitter. He’s not a good right fielder. He’s not a good base runner. By re-signing him you take maybe the best right fielder in the game out of his natural position and move him to center where he is a below average center fielder. I would make an effort to sign him but if they don’t they can get Corbin Burnes, and either Walker or Alonso for close to same AAV as Soto. Move Jazz to 2nd and let one of the kids play 3rd. Or work out a trade. Finally put the Martin in CF and lets see what he can do.
