you misunderstool what Lou Merloni was saying, he doesnt know if the Red Sox would spend to the level needed for the rest of the team ($300-350+ million in team payroll) if they were going to drop $500+ million on a long term deal for Juan Soto

I don't think you understood what Lou was saying later in the interview he said he expects the market to be in the $550-$650M range but he was questioning if the ownership was willing to go over $350M (basically the Devers contract) not that he expected them to land Soto for that

I can see Soto picking the Red Sox over Yankees if contracts are equal. Soto would be the star overnight there. Judge will always be number 1 in NY and will also never be in top 10 of Yankee greats. He could be in top 5 or 3 in Boston. Also. Boston has been the much better franchise the past 20 years. Also. Ortiz and Pedro are absolute Icons. Especially in the DR. That deff means something and gives Boston and nice edge.
